For breakfast Sunday I made up some sausage and eggs - I've got a recipe written up for you guys!
My ootd + some really cute puppies.
The face he makes when he hears he gets to go see grandpa and grandma๐.
Dad was doing some burning when we got to their house, so naturally I had to make a s'more!
Supervising from the fire pit... ๐คท♀️
Dublin wasn't impressed with us packing up the truck, so he decided to hang in the garage with great grandma.
Is this not the cutest thing ever?? Dad has a new apprentice for his locksmith business.
My ootd Monday - I got this sweatshirt at Hollister shopping for my birthday for $15 and the leggings from Costco for like $10, I love the sweatshirt, not impressed with the leggings but they're not terrible for $10. I had a doctor appointment in Des Moines at 8:20AM๐ฌ. I just wanted to feel like I was wearing pajamas!
my one doctor appointment turned into getting chest X-Rays so it wasn't as quick of a trip as I thought. I've been having breathing issues the last couple years but it's been a lot worse this year, I had fluid on my lungs when I had chest X-rays two years ago and last summer when they did them in the hospital I had fluid between my lungs and ribs or something? I don't exactly remember what he said...lol I'll also be doing a pulmonary test soon which will test my breathing.
This guy was feeling just like momma...TIRED.
Look at Dublins face...so unimpressed with me.
My ootd Tuesday - I got this sweatshirt at Target last winter for like $15, the jeans are the ones I got at Hollister on my birthday for like $15.
For my hair I used my new favorite leave in conditioner.
I let my hair air dry and then flat ironed and used this hairspray to finish.
I used this on my eyes.
And this liner, plus the better than sex mascara.
I used this on my lips and I love it!
The color I used.
I ran to Walmart after my physical therapy appointment Tuesday morning and grabbed some turkey breakfast sausage patties which sparked an idea to make a sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich for lunch.
For supper I made a sausage and egg mixture again, it's my new favorite!
Perfect healthy dinner.
You guys...I got ALL of my clothes packed into this one bag! I was so proud of myself! Until the weather changed by the time we got to Threshers...I'll never try to pack light again๐.
We ran to Joe's moms Tuesday night after he was done with gym and met this sweet little guy...she got stuck watching him with her brother for her sister...and now she's planning on keeping it, we're pretty excited๐.
Max was so happy to see Joe! He was his dog until we moved out and couldn't take him...he's 13 and doesn't get around well, but he musters up enough fiestyness anytime he gets to see Joe.
Look at that cute little face!!
It's like Dublin knew we were leaving...he usually does, he was soo cuddly!
Threshers bound! Joe got off at at 10:00 we finished up loading and headed out.
2 1/2 hours later...Finally to paradise! Or at least what we consider paradise๐.
I love seeing all of the old cars around the campgrounds.
We got settled in and I got to work making some Air Fryer donuts, that was my brothers one request when we were discussing dinners.
Caught a picture of grandma embroidering away.
After we had the donuts we headed up to the main grounds to get our wristbands for the show.
The red barn is where they used to have the kids spot when we were growing up.
The trolleys are one of my favorite things! This one is from Chicago, I love that it tells about the history of each trolley inside of them.
Love these peoples humor๐.
They added lights to the church before this year and it was so pretty at night!
So fun getting to see all the tractors at night.
Out of all the trolleys, the open car is my favorite.
Joe's favorite is this one, it is from San Fransisco. I do like this one too because the seats all run down the sides of it.
Even on vacation he still made his smoothies for breakfast, Until it was FREEZING in the mornings that is.
Ready for the Opening day of Midwest Old Threshers!!
Ahh...The Log Village. where I spent most of my childhood when I was here! My dad volunteered down in the blacksmith shop for years. Before I was in school, so I just had fun, my mom was a "teacher" and my brother was a "student" at the schoolhouse down there too!
The barn, and the schoolhouse to the right, thats the new schoolhouse they built a few years ago and turned the old one into something else.
During the day you can watch demonstrations at all the stops and at the barn you can make your own rope.
Just saying...The blacksmith shop isn't the same without my dad ๐คท♀️. Honestly the volunteers they get in there are crap, but if you go up to the north village both of the blacksmiths up there are great! My dad's known both of them for years.
One of the houses you can tour, and they have some things you can buy in there too. And the kettle corn stand to the right, if you've visited our friends the Powells, soap booth. Then you've seen the kettle corn stand right next to them, this is the same people!
Ahh...Dr Farkwar...that's probably not how you spell his name at all...but idk so ๐คท♀️.
He's also been around my whole life, and I thought he was old back then!
Love seeing all of the different camp sites! One of our favorite things to do is ride around the campgrounds on the ground train and see how people have their stuff set up, I know...we're boring๐.
Our old dresser that we use as a TV stand is a family heirloom that was handed down to me, I have a bed that matches too! but anyways...the top needs replaced and we've been saying for years we need to get some veneer to replace it, and we finally got some. I can't wait to start fixing it up, the drawers need a lot of work too.
They have hundreds, maybe even thousands? Tractors up at the North end.
See what I mean?
This tractor was definitely our favorite though!
Ahh...
Best food ever, I've been dreaming of this hot beef sundae pretty much since I had it like two years ago. I'm definitely going to be recreating it at home.
Don't mind Chris just enjoying his lemonade. I'll admit though the fresh squeezed lemonade was pretty great.
It's so fun watching these large steam engines.
I've been buying fudge from the same lady for YEARS, It's my first stop. It's not as good as my mommas...but its still pretty great.
Joe being the grill master.
Such a beautiful night.
Friday morning trolley ride with Joe, my brother, and grandma.
Inside the Chicago trolley.
Don't mind me...just spotting every single dog that was there๐.
We missed our friend doing the tractor pull, but we got to see this big guy!
Watching the shootouts up at the "North Village" is definitely a fun one, my parents got to be on the train on Monday for one of the train holdups.
This husband driving the pink tractor would pull his wife around while she played the organ, so fun!
One of the blacksmiths at the North End.
Great advertising๐. They do a Halloween and a Christmas train thing.
They had lots of old cars on display but this one was so neat.
Old time school bus.
My grandparents had one of these when I was little with M&M's and a tin can with penny's. I always loved it and have been on the search for one but anytime I've found one they're pretty expensive...I scored this one for $10 because there's a crack in the glass! For now Joe can do a quick fix but I found a replacement online for only $20, so I'll still have a great price invested in it.
We finally got Deegan added to our sign๐๐. Now we can hang it out front at home too.
Like I said, I can spot a cute puppy anywhere.
This little doggy was only like 3 pounds! It was SO adorable!!
I've missed the sparks show the last few times so I was so excited to get to see them this year, even though it was exhausting staying awake till 9:00pm to see it๐.
It was so worth the wait! it was so pretty.
We went uptown to see all the vendors on Saturday and I found some neat ideas for some things to try and recreate.
We had a nice lady take our picture for us, and then returned the favor for someone else!
We decided to check out the coffee shop on the square right by where we parked, it was so cute inside.
It would be great if I could have caffeine...out of all days, Today I needed it!
They had such cool tables inside, we weren't going to epoxy the legs on our table when we did the top but after seeing this one, we're going to try it.
It wouldn't be camping without some Kings in the Korner! this card holder is also something that was my grandparents.
I was off my game...I always beat Joe and he beat me every time ๐.
I was so thankful my brother brought his Keurig and hot chocolate...Part of it was because I wasn't feeling well at all...but the other part, it was pretty chilly even to a normal person!
We decided to check out the Joe Diffie show Saturday night, to be honest it totally sucked, we stayed for about an hour and then decided to head back to camp.
We caught the sparks show on the ground train heading back.
Sunday morning headed up to the north end for pancake breakfast.
This is something my family always did when I was growing up, the whole family would come up to the north end on Sunday for pancakes. as the family has grown that traditions kind of stopped but me, Joe, and my brother still like to do it.
We made it up to the north village in time to watch the train robbery.
This lady is one of the original "ranger's" daughter. It's so neat to see stuff passed down through the generations. My dads friend from way back in high school (Fun fact his family is who got my dad coming here YEARS ago) Is one of the main guys for the trains and his son has taken up that passion too.
I always know if I ask my brother to snap a picture, I'm also going to have one like this on my phone too ๐คท♀️.
Couldn't pass this up๐.
Or this๐๐.
Small glimps of the small engines, they have tons!
My uncle on the left and my great uncle on the right with their small engines.
My brothers first job was at Sinclair, so I had to snap a picture of him with the Sinclair truck!
Joes excitement over this truck cracked me up๐.
My brother also used to drive school bus, so we had to get this one too!
So fun watching this guy drive the old car.
My daddy with the stationary steam engine he started working at 35 years ago! He also worked at a couple other spots along with this and the Blacksmith shop in the log village throughout the years, he's thinking about picking back up the volunteer hat and start working here again.
Our friend Jerry stopped by with their adorable dog Cooper, this guy is soo cute! And such a good dog.
No idea what dad and my uncle was talking about, but clearly my cousin James wasn't interested๐.
No idea what these two were looking at๐.
All loaded up and headed to the north end to load up the engines, Before they made it, James lost his sunglasses off his head, fell off the trailer, and was almost run over๐ฌ all in front of everyone waiting for the show to start at the North Village๐๐ poor guy, He had some scrapes and stuff, but he was fine!
These babies were SO happy to be home...and so were we!
This time at Threshers was so amazing.
We talk about it all year long, even the day we come home we talk about next year! I'm so thankful Joe loves it just as much as I do, and its been funny finding out friends of ours from the area have been coming their whole lives too, so it's fun to have all of us there!
Due to health, two years ago we could only go for the day, and last year not at all...That was so hard for me so I'm so thankful I was able to experience it this year. I'll admit...It was extremely hard for me, I didn't sleep well at all, definitely overdid it with the walking...and ended up feeling terrible by Saturday...I had to take a nap each day to make it through the rest of the day and even then it wasn't enough. It's times like that I get so frustrated with my disease and that I'm not able to do what others do or even what I used to.
But even with that I'm thankful I was even able to get to go this year. My grandma bought us all our wristbands and a camping spot for Christmas so we were all very appreciative for that since we were broke! But it was still great even with being sick and everything getting to spend time with family and see everything again. Aand...we've already started talking about next year, actually we started before it was even over this year๐. We're planning on building a "tiny home" camper and I can't wait to see it come to life.
Anyways, I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend whatever it was you were doing, and...I hope to see you at Threshers for next year๐๐๐.
I had to share this on my facebook when I saw it...So I thought I'd share it with you all too, especially with the changing of the seasons, and us about to lose all of the leaves, lets all remember, There are better days to come!
๐๐๐๐
