About Me

Hello all!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and checking things out, I hope you enjoy my content and get some great ideas!

A little about me…

I was raised in a small town in rural southern Iowa

I am a Christian

I was homeschooled K-12

My mom stayed at home with my brother and I and my dad has either been a blacksmith or a bus driver my whole life

I met my husband when we were 15 and later started dating when we were 17 and have been married 7 years now.

I’ve lived in 3 states

Iowa of course…:)

Jackson Hole, Wyoming - My mom said she would never move out of Iowa…3 months later our family lived in Jackson Hole! We lived there almost 2 years before moving back to Iowa.

Daytona Beach, Florida.  My husband and I moved to Daytona after only driving through there at night on vacation, we had a love/hate relationship and moved back home after only a few months (theres no place like home) we made some amazing memories though!

I went to the Aveda Institute and became a cosmetologist. I was a stylist for 7 years and owned my own salon for 5 of those, I recently gave up my career due to health issues and I am learning to trust God to guide me towards my next calling in life.

I was recently diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and am learning how to navigate through life with this new development!

My husband and I have two dogs that are treated like royalty
Dublin is 7 - He’s old, a little chubby, and loves cuddles
Deegan is 1 1/2 - He is most definitely still a puppy and gives us a run for our money but is so sweet

My Husband and I bought a fixer upper last fall and you will get to follow along in our journey!

Homemade Taco Seasoning

The other day I whipped up another batch of homemade taco seasoning that I’ve been making for years so I thought I would share it with you. It’s super easy, last a long time, and doesn’t have any of the icky preservatives, etc. Here’s the ingredients, 1/2 cup chili powder 3 Tablespoons cumin 1 Tablespoon salt 1 Tablespoon finely ground pepper 1 Tablespoon paprika 2 teaspoons garlic powder 2 teaspoons onion powder 2 teaspoons dried oregano Mix it all together and you’re good to go! To use, brown 1lb. hamburger,  then add 2 Tablespoons of the taco seasoning mix plus 1/3 cup water and simmer until liquid has thickened, about 1-2 minutes. I hope you enjoy!

Instant Pot Spaghetti

Instant Pot Spaghetti  Start by turning your instant pot to the sauté function, adding some olive oil and then once the screen says HOT add your hamburger and brown.  All of the spices I used. Once the hamburger is browned Turn the instant pot off. Once I turned the instant pot off I added the noodles, crisscrossing the noodles so they don't clump. Next I added the spaghetti sauce, water, and spices.  Then set the instant pot to manual for 10 minutes and did natural release. And finished product!  I turned the instant pot off, put the lid back on and let it cool a little once I mixed everything together. I used this for freezer meals. I was able to get 7 1 1/2 cup servings. I let these cool and then put them in the fridge and waited to put them in the freezer until the next day so it was completely cooled. Ingredients: Olive Oil 1 lb hamburger 2 jars pasta sauce 1 16oz box angel hair noodles 1 cup + 1 jar of Wa
