Weekly Recap August 19th - 25th

Sunday was such a fun day, Joes company does a family fun day at Adventureland every year so we were up bright and early so we could be there as soon as they opened.
Ass many crazy things Joe loves to do, rollercoasters or anything that goes to high are just not his thing, thank god we had my brother and friends that were willing to ride the "fun" rides with me😉.

The company catered in lunch for everyone which was so nice and pretty good!

We were so busy having fun these were the only two photos we got!
Yes the second photo is on the sky glider, somehow Joe does like that ride😉.
We ended up leaving around 4 and we were both so exhausted but I was so happy I was able to have a day like this.

These photos pretty much sums up our Monday morning😂.
I had my second Remicade Infusion on Monday afternoon so Joe left work early to take me to my appointment. The whole process usually takes 3 hours - 2 1/2 hours of the infusion and 1/2 hour of observation, they were running behind this time so I didn't end up getting my IV until almost 2...those of you that know me know that I am so not a patient person😏.
I've been watching the last season of Bones on my iPad the last two times and I finished the season this week, I was so sad it was over!

After my Infusion we went to Red Rosa just a couple blocks down from the GI clinic in West Des Moines. If you guys haven't tried this place yet I highly recommend it! There is another location downtown as well. They make wood fired oven neapolitan style personal size pizzas that you can customize and they are so delicious.

I talked Joe into taking me to Starbucks afterwards, that place is seriously my weakness. My go to drink is either a caramel mocha or peppermint mocha, I decided to get out of my box and try something new, I got a caramel macchiato and it was great! and a little healthier too😉.

Tuesday was a lazy day - the day after my infusions I'm usually pretty tired and not feeling great so I try to plan to have the house clean and something easy for meals!

This pretty much sums up our day.

Wednesday I caught up on my to do list, updating my planner and did a little cleaning. I took the dogs for a walk in the afternoon. Poor Dublins hips can't take walking the whole trail anymore so I took Deegan out by himself (I kind of think Dublin loved having the time to himself without Deegan in the house😂), When I got home from the trail I just walked Dublin around our neighborhood for a few minutes and that was plenty for him.

I'd seen commercials for this show on tv a few times and I love Rachel Bilson! (Anyone watch Hart of Dixie!? I seriously have that show memorized) I found it on Hulu and was totally hooked.

Evening cuddles.

Thursday I was up bright and early to take my cousin to Des Moines for carpel tunnel surgery.
My outfit of the day - I got these jeans at the Lucky Brand outlet and I will totally be back to get more! (When they're on sale of course...) they were so comfy. I got this Free People Jacket for a whopping $40! ($120 OFF, Thank you Younkers going out of business sale.) I've been chomping at the bit since I bought it in July and it was finally cool enough Thursday morning to wear it!

While Cassie was in surgery I worked on a few chapters of the book Girl, Wash Your Face. If you haven't read it I seriously recommend it! it has been so eye opening and inspirational.

We got home from Des Moines around 12, I needed to take Cassie to pick up her daughter from school at 2 so that left me enough time to relax on the couch for a bit.
This is my life...no nap for me! He's way to cute to move...

After I got home from running Cassie I worked on some freezer meal ideas and planned out my game plan for Friday.

Friday I hit the ground running and didn't sit down until that evening.

My ootd to run errands, these jeans have been on repeat since I got them.

Do these colors not just scream fall!? I found these at Walmart. The black thermal was regular price (still only $8), the t-shirts were clearanced for $2 and the tank tops for $3!

I got these beauties at The Grassroots Home it is the cutest little boutique here in town. She had the Free Bird one on order for me that came in this week and then I had to snatch up the Thankful Tee and amazing candle too. She allowed me to use two different coupons they'd sent to me which I thought was so great! most places only let you use one at a time, and she threw in the little bag of potpourri for my birthday!

Once I got home from getting all the supplies I needed for freezer meals I switched outfits.  yes these pants for the second day in a row because they're just that comfy!

I got 4 meals and some cookies done Friday I had the instant pot crockpot, stovetop and oven all going! I had organized the order of things so it actually didn't take long to make everything.
I made
Instant Pot Chicken and Noodles
Crockpot Chicken Pot Pie
Chicken Noodle Soup
Ham and Cheese Hot Pockets
Chocolate Chip Cookies

I found this cookie recipe on Money Saving Mom Blog and they were so good! I made a dozen of them for us to eat and put the rest of the dough in the freezer to have at a later date.

I got 15 meals of chicken noodle soup and 10 meals of chicken and noodles.

I'm the type of person that has to clean as I go when I'm cooking/baking, I can't stand a messy kitchen! it was so nice having a clean kitchen at the end of the night.

Saturday I was up early (in my book...😉) to make it to Des Moines for a home staging business sale by 9:00.

My ootd with my super cute new shirt I got Friday!

I got to the place right as the sale was supposed to be starting but they apparently let people in early so it was already a madhouse when I got there. If you weren't bumping in to people you were bumping into decor it was so packed but it was totally worth it for the good deals.
A lot of the things I wanted to go for were already sold but I did find a few cute things.

I got a quilt set for our bed, 2 pillows, the vase decor, a lampshade, and the 3 decorative bottles all for $33!
I had been looking for a lampshade for awhile for the lamp that I redid but lets be honest, I'm cheap...and didn't want to spend the money on one! so I was super excited when I found this one. the pillows are great because those are just pillow covers so I can easily change out the covers for the seasons.

We went back to Des Moines Saturday afternoon for Joe to help set up for the Kickboxing fights his friend was putting on that night. Once I dropped him off I killed some time at Walmart and Target.
I am totally going back for this Universal Threads sweatshirt next time I'm in Des Moines.

These blankets I found at Target are seriously the softest ever! I love to find Christmas ideas for people early so this photo was immediately sent to Joe😉.

I didn't get any photos Saturday night but I got back to the venue around 7:00pm and we both helped out in various ways throughout the night, my brother and another friend were there helping too so it was a fun evening!

A little inspiration for you this week.
What sets your soul on fire? If you're not sure then do some soul searching, I know I have been!

I'm in need of some new tv shows! I love shows like Bones and Take Two, nothing to gory😐 whats some recommendations?
Whats your favorite freezer meal?

National Peanut Butter Day

In honor of National peanut butter day coming up this Sunday the 24th, I thought I would share my favorite  peanut butter recipes from the blog.  I don’t know about you, but I never need an excuse for peanut butter, BUT I do love using these National (insert whatever here) day as a fun way to celebrate some of my favorite things.  To start us off I’ll share my favorite first! Homemade Taco Seasoning

The other day I whipped up another batch of homemade taco seasoning that I’ve been making for years so I thought I would share it with you. It’s super easy, last a long time, and doesn’t have any of the icky preservatives, etc. Here’s the ingredients, 1/2 cup chili powder 3 Tablespoons cumin 1 Tablespoon salt 1 Tablespoon finely ground pepper 1 Tablespoon paprika 2 teaspoons garlic powder 2 teaspoons onion powder 2 teaspoons dried oregano Mix it all together and you’re good to go! To use, brown 1lb. hamburger,  then add 2 Tablespoons of the taco seasoning mix plus 1/3 cup water and simmer until liquid has thickened, about 1-2 minutes. I hope you enjoy!

Instant Pot Spaghetti

Instant Pot Spaghetti  Start by turning your instant pot to the sauté function, adding some olive oil and then once the screen says HOT add your hamburger and brown.  All of the spices I used. Once the hamburger is browned Turn the instant pot off. Once I turned the instant pot off I added the noodles, crisscrossing the noodles so they don't clump. Next I added the spaghetti sauce, water, and spices.  Then set the instant pot to manual for 10 minutes and did natural release. And finished product!  I turned the instant pot off, put the lid back on and let it cool a little once I mixed everything together. I used this for freezer meals. I was able to get 7 1 1/2 cup servings. I let these cool and then put them in the fridge and waited to put them in the freezer until the next day so it was completely cooled. Ingredients: Olive Oil 1 lb hamburger 2 jars pasta sauce 1 16oz box angel hair noodles 1 cup + 1 jar of Wa
