Weekly Recap November 25th - December 1st

Ok...those of you that know me know how much I love this time of year, the holidays, decor, snow, etc.
So you can imagine how excited I was waking up Sunday morning to snow! not only snow...But a full on Blizzard!
I could barely sleep all night anticipating it and woke up super early and made Joe get up with me to look at it😂, But those of you that know him, know he loves the snow just as much as I do!
We bundled up and headed out for a drive.

It was so crazy out...there were certain parts of town you couldn't tell where the road ended and the grass started.
Its so pretty though😊.

When we got home we took the dogs out to play in the snow, they had fun for about 5 minutes and then were so over it! Our shorthaired fur babies just aren't cut out for this weather.

Not even 20 minutes after we came inside from playing you couldn't even see in the front yard where we had been.

I picked up this frozen pizza in Des Moines Friday and today was a perfect day for it!
the brand is Pasquale's pizza and they are made right in Humboldt Iowa!
We loved the breakfast pizza so I'm excited to try the pepperoni, I didn't find it in Osceola but I got them at the Hyvee up on Mills Civic.

My brother tried driving to church in Des Moines this morning...He decided about Osceola that wasn't such a great idea when he saw a Charter bus sideways on the interstate so he ended up at our house.

It was a perfect afternoon for a couple craft projects....I bought these at a yard sale a couple years ago and am repainting them.

And perfect for a little leftover apple pie😊

Joe's uncle got stuck trying to go to the store Sunday afternoon so Joe and Chris went and rescued him (First they had to move my dads 2wd truck, they had fun with that😂.
See my candy canes out there? you could see most of them in the morning!
We ended up getting 16 inches total.

The rest of the afternoon we snacked, played some games and watched some Christmas movies.

Monday morning the company Joe and Chris work for delayed start time from 6 to 9 because of the snow so they got a little extra sleep.
My little helper.

I seriously love wrapping presents! I used to help my grandma when I was little just so I could wrap more.

When they left I worked on some Christmas gifts and wrapping.

Monday night was fetch time...who am I kidding, every night is fetch time with Deegan!

Tuesday morning I went and decorated my grandmas apartment (I forgot to get pictures😑)

And this is what I came home too afterwards...All of that pretty wrapping ruined😩.
You can see the main culprit in the top picture...although Dublin gave himself away when I get home and as he got off the couch a toy that was wrapped fell😂.
Everything from the last few weeks started to catch up with me this week...(I'm still seriously struggling with learning how to balance life...Has anyone really figured that out though?? I tend to go go go until I can't anymore and crash...)
So the rest of the afternoon after cleaning up the mess...I just took it easy with the doggies.

Dublins new coat came in the mail Tuesday night and he loves it!!
We ordered him a bigger one on Black Friday and Deegan will take over Dublins (It was getting a little snug😂.
Dublin seriously loves wearing shirts/sweaters/coats, I don't know if its because it makes him feel more like us or because he has no fur and it keeps him warm but its so cute!

I forgot to get any pictures of most of the day Wednesday! My sweet friend Amber and her new baby girl came down for a girls day - We went and had lunch at the coffee shop here in town, hung out at my house, and I got her all ready for there first Christmas family photo shoot this weekend!

After Amber left I whipped up a batch of healthy potato soup in the instant pot (recipe coming soon).

 Oh Deegan...always with the kisses
But how can you be upset with that face??

After dinner mom and I worked on a fun little project - My grandma gave me her Christmas tree couple years before she passed away, I no longer needed to use it anymore but didn't want to part with it, I found this idea on Pinterest where you repurpose Christmas tree branches into wreath swags.
This one is moms (excuse the blinds...Deegan has a way with them, and I wait till they're completely done for before I bother buying a new set - Curtains coming soon😂)
I can't wait to see how hers looks with some twinkle lights added too it!

This is the one we made for my Aunt, I can't wait to give it to her!

This is the start of mine, I couldn't fully decide what I wanted to add to it Wednesday night.

And the aftermath. Crafting central blew up in my dinning room but we had so much fun working on them!

And this is real life...I was up most of the night Thursday night not feeling well - one of the symptoms of crohns is joint pain. I was taking a bath to help relieve some of the pain at 2:30 in the morning, it did help and then other symptoms like nausea, stomach pain, etc kicked in. once I finally fell back asleep Thursday morning I was able to sleep for a few hours.
So this is what the dogs and I did the rest of the day, it was very much needed.

Friday morning I finally finished my wreath and got it hung on the front door.

I went and had a coffee date with a friend of mine late morning Friday, got some groceries, and headed home to wait for the cable guy to come...We've had nothing but problems with our Mediacom in this house, every week or so our internet goes out and they can never explain why, they've had techs come out and replace the box etc...well FINALLY this tech figured out what the issue was...he had to replace the cable outside and fingers crossed we haven't had any issues since!

We spent the evening cuddling the dogs and watching Charlie Brown.

It was an early bedtime for me at least - Joe, his dad, brother, and my brother went hunting all weekend and they headed down from Des Moines to stay the night so Joe got to stay up and wait for them (and by stay up I mean they got there at like 8:30 or 9:00...😂.

The last few years I've gone to what's called the Christmas Bash at my parents church in West Des Moines, we've had so much fun going together! the first year my grandma went with us, last year it was just the two of us, and this year my aunt (moms sister) and two of my cousins joined us and we had a great time together.

Jen Green from Life 107.1 was the speaker for the event and she was by far my favorite! My parents already know her but the rest of us got to meet her for the first time.

Melinda and I
Myself, Mom, Aunt Teresa, Melinda, and Abby

Momma was our table host😊

They do such an amazing job with the decor! They go to so much work to put on this event, there were over 500 ladies that attended. The tickets go on sale in July and there is usually a waiting list!

I love this picture of my momma and Aunt!
My cookies I decorated - (They do this every year) They made over 1,400 sugar cookies!

They always have a take home item for you and this has been my favorite. Conversation cards for when you have people around your table.

My Finds - They have an area of items for $1-$5 that you can purchase and they always have the cutest things! Don't worry...I didn't eat all of that candy, I usually get my stocking stuffers here😉.

After the bash mom and I headed to meet my cousins new adorable little baby girl! (Ok not moms first time...she went and saw them twice in the hospital😂) She is soo precious and I'm so excited for them!

After that mom and I ran a couple errands, hit up Whalburgers and headed south.

This is how the dogs and I spent the rest of the evening.

Belly rubs please???

I am such a big Winnie the Pooh fan, I thought I'd leave you with this quote for the week😚.

National Peanut Butter Day

In honor of National peanut butter day coming up this Sunday the 24th, I thought I would share my favorite  peanut butter recipes from the blog.  I don’t know about you, but I never need an excuse for peanut butter, BUT I do love using these National (insert whatever here) day as a fun way to celebrate some of my favorite things.  To start us off I’ll share my favorite first! This is a little generic and certainly not all about peanut butter but my favorite is definitely  Chocolate Nobake Cookies (with peanut butter of course). And now for the rest in really no particular order because I couldn’t possibly decide between them all🤷‍♀️. Peanut blossoms   Peanut butter cookies Peanut butter sandwich cookies Peanut butter bars -  Chocolate peanut butter bars   Chocolate scotcheroos  Chocolate peanut butter fudge  Peanut butter cups  Chocolate peanut butter pie  Peanut butter popcorn And lastly...if you want peanut butter but with a li...

Instant Pot Hamburger Helper

Instant Pot Hamburger Helper To get started you're going to turn your instant pot to the sauce feature. When it shows "Hot" on the display you're ready to add your olive oil and hamburger. Throw in all of your seasonings and brown the hamburger. Once its browned, add the noodles and more seasonings. Then add the two cans of beef broth and try to push all the ingredients down so there's not too much sitting on the surface. Then set the instant pot to cook for 8 minutes and do a quick release. Add in your milk, cheese, and party dip or sour cream if you have it. Turn it back onto sauté and stir everything together until it's melted. And serve! I don't know about you guys...but in our opinion you can't have hamburger helper without some bread and butter to go along with it😉. Ingredients: 1lb hamburger 8 oz elbow noodles 2 14 oz cans beef broth  1/2 - 1 cup milk  8 oz shredded ch...

Life update + some new projects

Lifish update I’ll do a full “anniversary post” in July but I’ve just had a lot of thoughts lately about life, crohns, everything. To be honest I’ve had a lot of confusion and even discouragement which is not normally me. I’m coming up on two years and while I’m no where near how I was two years ago (I mean that was pretty bad...😳) I’m also nowhere near where I thought I would be, I remember thinking that on the year anniversary too and I kind of think that feeling has just progressed since then😕. I’m no better than I was 8 months ago to be completely honest with you and in some ways may or worse? I am so so thankful to have a diagnosis and know what’s wrong with me, but with that I thought would come answers and healing. I’ve had some answers and some healing of course, but there’s still really a lot of unknown! In the beginning I used to talk about finding my “new normal” well I’m here to tell you 2 years later I still haven’t found it😂. Learning to navigate something new ...
