Holidays Recap

Sunday

The face he makes when he knows we're leaving him...

Before the play - We went and saw the Charlie Brown play with my parents, brother, and grandma it was so much fun!

After the play we went and looked at Christmas lights, We ended up in a neighborhood in Ankeny that we'd need been to and it was so great! at the end of the neighborhood they had people dressed up like Santa and Mrs. Clause and were collecting food and money for the Des Moines food bank - So Cool!

After lights we went and took some Christmas goodies to some friends and Joe got to meet their little baby for the first time😊.

Christmas Eve

I'm just saying...it took a lot of treats and lots of outtakes to get a picture this good...😂.

How Deegan feels about his outfit.

Mom cuddling her new great niece.

We always do soups on Christmas Eve - chili is a must!

Its just exhausting getting belly rubs and running around all day.

Christmas Day

I love the feeling you have when you wake up Christmas morning! (Even if it was 5:30am 😂 We're both like little kids still in that aspect).

Dublin may be old and cripple...but when it comes to Christmas he gets just as excited as he did as a puppy!
Impatiently waiting to open stockings.

Deegan's so funny, Dublin picked up on the whole gift opening thing early on, While Deegan does enjoy it he hasn't quite figured it out yet.

One of my favorite gifts from Joe...a tabletop drill press!

Had to try out his new game he got for Christmas.
Nothing better than grandma cuddles...
Accept maybe mommy cuddles!

Opening all of those gifts was exhausting.

New hat, coat, gun, and slippers. he's good to go!

You can't have Christmas without watching A Muppet Christmas Carol😊

Mom made all of us (Including the dogs!) matching stockings.

Making sure grandmas preparing dinner right.

Wednesday
I headed to Des Moines Wednesday morning to find some good Christmas clearance and had lunch with my mama. I usually try to get to Des Moines by at least 7:00am...This year I was slacking and didn't make it till around 10:00am and I'm telling you...all of the good stuff was gone already!! 😑. I didn't find anything at Target, found a couple things at Walmart, went and had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory with mom, and hit up Bath and Body Works to use a gift card, then I just headed back home to cuddle my babies.

Just trying out his new BB gun in the house...He managed to make a target that kept the BB's from going through it.

Thursday
My ootd Thursday.

Joe was home from work so we had a movie day, he got the new Jurassic Park so that was a must!

Just keeping a barrier from baby brother...
I didn't get any photos...but we had friends that were home visiting from Tennessee and we went out to dinner with them and then they came back to watch a movie, it was so great spending time with them and catching up!
The dogs took this time to show off and see how many new toys they could shred...This was all from Thursday night clean up!

Friday

My ootd Friday.

His face cracks me up...😆.
Getting started on my new year planning and organization!
Joe got me this book for Christmas and I loved it! I finished it in just a couple days.

Late Friday afternoon I had a Dr appointment with my GI Dr so we met mom at the clinic in Des Moines. I didn't get the best news..this was the follow up from my Colonoscopy, Blood test, and Ultrasound on my Liver.
We found out I may have Celiacs and Liver Disease on top of the Crohn's, and he prescribed me another round of the Entocort (Steroid, but not as strong as Prednisone) This time at least 3 months, last time was only 6 weeks! and I'm awaiting a liver biopsy and upper scope to find out for sure about  the Celiacs and Liver disease.
Not exactly what I wanted to hear but to be honest I'm starting to get used to hearing bad news at these appointments...😬. It was definitely disappointing and I've had a few days here and there feeling down about it but for the most part I try to stay encouraged about it all.

After my Drs appointment we headed to Whalburgers, if you're in the area (or have one in your area) I highly recommend trying it out, so delicious! Joes favorite is a Fiesta Burger (I think that's the name of it) and I've gotten the chicken sandwich the last couple times and its so good, this time we got the tots with it.

On our way home I felt like a little retail therapy with some of my Christmas money...We stopped at Target and I found some great bargains! all of the shirts were between $10-$15 on clearance and I found a few good Christmas clearance - I love that the red vase and berry jar fillers can easily transition into Valentines decor!
Oh and the snowflake headphones...amazing! they really don't have that great of sound but they're so cute!
And I'm really hoping the light hanging kit works as well as it says it does...it was only $6 with it we should be able to do the whole roofline and not just the porch.

Saturday
My ootd of the Saturday...😂 I didn't have any plans other than staying home and relaxing so I decided it was a great day for pj's.

Joe made us some waffles for breakfast.
He can never just lay on the floor...Always has to be on a rug or something!

Hoping one of us will share our food...

After breakfast Joe headed hunting with my brother so the dogs and I took advantage of some cuddle time.

Also...I picked up this polish at a discount store here in town. I got this and the top coat for $3! its the Essie gel polish that you don't have to use the light on to make it harden. I ended up going to the hair supply store and getting another color. I love how long it last and its great price!

Enjoying his new gun my parents, brother, and I got him for Christmas!

Chris came over after hunting for pizza and a movie and Deegan took advantage of him sitting for some cuddles.

Sunday
Ootd Sunday.
We didn't do too much other than run to Indianola for a few things and then just hung out at home.

Monday (New Years eve)
Another day at home all day so another pj day!😉.

Puppy cuddles.

I should have gotten more photos of what we made. we did meat, cheese, and crackers, homemade cheese dip, cookies, leftover goodies from Christmas, pickle roll up dip,
puppy chow, party mix, and then I made these mini tacos with deer meat, so yummy we'll definitely make them again!
Joes mom also brought some frozen mozzarella sticks and pretzels.
Way to much food for 3 people...I tend to over prepare!

Joe quite proud of himself that he won our board game😂.

Joes mom ended up leaving around 7:30 so we watched Aristocrats (Joe got me for Christmas, I hadn't seen it in years but it totally reminded why it was one of my favorites when I was little!)
We may have been in bed but we made it to midnight😂.

Tuesday - New Years Day
Perfect day for snacks

We decided to rent some movies New Years day, we got Night School, Crazy Rich Asians, and A Simple Favor, all three were totally worth renting!

Wednesday
So apparently Deegan didn't want to be locked up Wednesday morning....He's lucky we have a spare door that I bought for the bathroom we hadn't put on yet...

I decided to use my new mug I got a couple weeks ago and make a peppermint mocha😊.

Thursday
Thursday morning I ran some errands and decided to pick up the ingredients  I needed to make a ham egg and cheese croissant in my sandwich maker, I couldn't find croissants the size I wanted so I bought these in the tube and baked them...they didn't work that great either but it was still yummy!

Hoping I'll share...

Isn't this just the sweetest face😊.

our drawers in our hutch had seriously turned into junk drawers...seriously so embarrassing that they got this bad! When I was at Walmart Thursday morning I picked up a couple little bins to help organize. I forgot to get an after pick but I'll post that soon! I also got some under the bed storage bins to help utilize every space we have! I'll be making a whole post on decluttering and organizing...its that time of year😉.

Friday
Friday I went and hung out with a friend and watched her baby for her for a few hours..She's seriously so precious!

Saturday
Ootd Saturday.

I walk into the dinning room and there he is just hanging out on the table watching outside...

Joe and I headed to Des Moines Saturday to go to the mall and enjoy the nice weather out and about!
This is what we came home too...Deegan pulled my small crockpot off the counter and shattered the lid...He usually does well, but you never know what you may come home to with him.

I picked up some more stuff from Bath and Body Works when we were up there.

What I got at the hair supply store. This is seriously the best dry shampoo ever! I've tried others, even good brands...But nothing compares to this one. and I picked up another of the gel nail polishes from Essie.

We picked up the 4x4's I need to make my makeup brush holders, I couldn't wait to try out the drill press so I did a little test run!

And then we had a little family cuddle time...💙💙.

A little inspiration to leave you with few the new year!

National Peanut Butter Day

In honor of National peanut butter day coming up this Sunday the 24th, I thought I would share my favorite  peanut butter recipes from the blog.  I don’t know about you, but I never need an excuse for peanut butter, BUT I do love using these National (insert whatever here) day as a fun way to celebrate some of my favorite things.  To start us off I’ll share my favorite first! This is a little generic and certainly not all about peanut butter but my favorite is definitely  Chocolate Nobake Cookies (with peanut butter of course). And now for the rest in really no particular order because I couldn’t possibly decide between them all🤷‍♀️. Peanut blossoms   Peanut butter cookies Peanut butter sandwich cookies Peanut butter bars -  Chocolate peanut butter bars   Chocolate scotcheroos  Chocolate peanut butter fudge  Peanut butter cups  Chocolate peanut butter pie  Peanut butter popcorn And lastly...if you want peanut butter but with a li...

Instant Pot Hamburger Helper

Instant Pot Hamburger Helper To get started you're going to turn your instant pot to the sauce feature. When it shows "Hot" on the display you're ready to add your olive oil and hamburger. Throw in all of your seasonings and brown the hamburger. Once its browned, add the noodles and more seasonings. Then add the two cans of beef broth and try to push all the ingredients down so there's not too much sitting on the surface. Then set the instant pot to cook for 8 minutes and do a quick release. Add in your milk, cheese, and party dip or sour cream if you have it. Turn it back onto sauté and stir everything together until it's melted. And serve! I don't know about you guys...but in our opinion you can't have hamburger helper without some bread and butter to go along with it😉. Ingredients: 1lb hamburger 8 oz elbow noodles 2 14 oz cans beef broth  1/2 - 1 cup milk  8 oz shredded ch...

Life update + some new projects

Lifish update I’ll do a full “anniversary post” in July but I’ve just had a lot of thoughts lately about life, crohns, everything. To be honest I’ve had a lot of confusion and even discouragement which is not normally me. I’m coming up on two years and while I’m no where near how I was two years ago (I mean that was pretty bad...😳) I’m also nowhere near where I thought I would be, I remember thinking that on the year anniversary too and I kind of think that feeling has just progressed since then😕. I’m no better than I was 8 months ago to be completely honest with you and in some ways may or worse? I am so so thankful to have a diagnosis and know what’s wrong with me, but with that I thought would come answers and healing. I’ve had some answers and some healing of course, but there’s still really a lot of unknown! In the beginning I used to talk about finding my “new normal” well I’m here to tell you 2 years later I still haven’t found it😂. Learning to navigate something new ...
