Weekly Recap December 16th - 22nd

Sunday we headed down to Leon bright and early (and by bright and early I mean we left at 9...but that's early for me to be up and leaving the house!)

I decided the dogs needed to dress up in their elf costumes to go to Grandpa and Grandmas....The things they let me do😂. Dublins so used to it he just goes with it.

This is how Deegan felt about wearing his😂😂.

When we got to Leon we dropped the babies off at grandpa and grandmas, clearly they had no problem with that😊.

Then we headed to our tattoo appointment - The guy thats been doing them for us the last few years is sponsoring Joe in his upcoming fight (yes he is fighting again...😑) and he does such a great job! If you need any work done he's very reasonably priced as well.
Tyler Read at Destination Ink in Leon.

I got a J and loved how it turned out! Joe just got one of his touched up and is headed down later this week to get a new one.

I helped mom bake some cookies and we had a little audience of course.

When we got home I started the first batch of party mix and then headed to bed.

Monday morning I got up and got the house picked up, made a second batch of party mix and gave my dad a haircut.
I may have gotten Joe to color my hair Sunday night...I love the violet tones!

I also may have made 4 batches of party mix between Sunday and Monday...😂.

Monday afternoon was all about yummy chicken soup, Christmas movies, and doggie cuddles.

Tuesday I was up bright and early getting things ready for Christmas baking. I baked the cutout sugar cookies already so I started out frosting them
Making and frosting sugar cookies is one of my favorite things to do.

Heres a little tip for getting your frosting into your decorating bag, this makes it so much easier.

Our little helpers.
Its not begging if I face away right..?

Mom got here Tuesday afternoon and we had a whirlwind afternoon of getting things done!

Wednesday was day two of baking and thankfully we got so much done Tuesday I could take my time😊. My friend Amber and her sweet little baby girl came down to help! Amber made a batch of yummy cookies and between baby cuddles I got a few more things made.
Always close by.

Amber knows me well...she got me the cutest shear ring for Christmas!! I love it💚💚.

Mom came after work Wednesday and we got everything packaged up and ready to give out to people. We ended up making 17 goodie trays! We've always done this and its such a fun way to bring someone joy during the Christmas season.

Thursday morning we headed to have an ultrasound on my liver done in Des Moines.
I loved the Christmas tree they had in the waiting area at the hospital! It gave me some inspiration to do a little tree like this next year.
Afterwards we went to my favorite pizza place in Des Moines - Red Rosa (if you haven't been there yet you totally need to go! Its wood fired oven pizza and so delicious).

We ran into a family that I met years ago at a friends church - they were youth pastors down at their church in Kansas and they now run a bible camp in Alaska so it was such a random fun surprise seeing them!

After that we took some goodies to the sweet ladies at the infusion clinic I go to.

I spent the afternoon cuddling with the puppies and watching Christmas movies.
Deegan was patiently waiting for me to share the puppy chow, it didn't happen!

Joe and I settled in on the couch and finished the night watching Home Alone.

Friday I got up and around and finished cleaning up from the baking extravaganza and then headed to have lunch with Joe and then went and started a tanning package, I know its time when my foundation gets to dark and I'm not about to buy a lighter one...😂.

In the afternoon I worked on some blog post
And had some little helpers while I did...😊.

Friday I took some shots of my Christmas goodies for a blog post.

Then in the afternoon I had some cuddles with the puppies.

Friday night Joe and I put together our gingerbread house - I always have big plans of making our own (I have done it a couple times!) I even bought a cut out set for them last year, maybe next year😊. We always have fun getting creative with them! as you can see that Joe gave his gingerbread person a mohawk like himself.

After decorating the gingerbread house we all cuddled on the couch and watched Home Alone.

Saturday morning we ran a few errands and then got to work finishing up some homemade gifts (nothing like waiting till the last minute right??).

Joe made my mom and grandma quilt racks.

And I made Joes mom a snowman she can set outside.

Just trying to wrap presents in piece...😏.

And just trying to take a bath in piece...This guy doesn't ever get too far from me!

National Peanut Butter Day

In honor of National peanut butter day coming up this Sunday the 24th, I thought I would share my favorite  peanut butter recipes from the blog.  I don’t know about you, but I never need an excuse for peanut butter, BUT I do love using these National (insert whatever here) day as a fun way to celebrate some of my favorite things.  To start us off I’ll share my favorite first! This is a little generic and certainly not all about peanut butter but my favorite is definitely  Chocolate Nobake Cookies (with peanut butter of course). And now for the rest in really no particular order because I couldn’t possibly decide between them all🤷‍♀️. Peanut blossoms   Peanut butter cookies Peanut butter sandwich cookies Peanut butter bars -  Chocolate peanut butter bars   Chocolate scotcheroos  Chocolate peanut butter fudge  Peanut butter cups  Chocolate peanut butter pie  Peanut butter popcorn And lastly...if you want peanut butter but with a li...

Instant Pot Hamburger Helper

Instant Pot Hamburger Helper To get started you're going to turn your instant pot to the sauce feature. When it shows "Hot" on the display you're ready to add your olive oil and hamburger. Throw in all of your seasonings and brown the hamburger. Once its browned, add the noodles and more seasonings. Then add the two cans of beef broth and try to push all the ingredients down so there's not too much sitting on the surface. Then set the instant pot to cook for 8 minutes and do a quick release. Add in your milk, cheese, and party dip or sour cream if you have it. Turn it back onto sauté and stir everything together until it's melted. And serve! I don't know about you guys...but in our opinion you can't have hamburger helper without some bread and butter to go along with it😉. Ingredients: 1lb hamburger 8 oz elbow noodles 2 14 oz cans beef broth  1/2 - 1 cup milk  8 oz shredded ch...

Life update + some new projects

Lifish update I’ll do a full “anniversary post” in July but I’ve just had a lot of thoughts lately about life, crohns, everything. To be honest I’ve had a lot of confusion and even discouragement which is not normally me. I’m coming up on two years and while I’m no where near how I was two years ago (I mean that was pretty bad...😳) I’m also nowhere near where I thought I would be, I remember thinking that on the year anniversary too and I kind of think that feeling has just progressed since then😕. I’m no better than I was 8 months ago to be completely honest with you and in some ways may or worse? I am so so thankful to have a diagnosis and know what’s wrong with me, but with that I thought would come answers and healing. I’ve had some answers and some healing of course, but there’s still really a lot of unknown! In the beginning I used to talk about finding my “new normal” well I’m here to tell you 2 years later I still haven’t found it😂. Learning to navigate something new ...
