Weekly Recap January 13th - 19th

Sunday

We slept late Sunday and had an easy morning watching some movies
And some puppy cuddles of course...

By the afternoon we decided to go have a late lunch at Pizza Ranch in Indianola and then ran to Walmart to get a few things (I scored some great Christmas clearance stuff!)

When we got back home we cozied right back in on the couch for another movie.

By the time the movie was over I was ready to do some purging...This was just the start, and it felt wonderful!

Monday

By Sunday night I felt a cold or something coming on so I slept in and tried to take it easy most of the day...

I thought homemade Chicken Soup would be the perfect lunch when you're not feeling well.

And this little guy thought he needed to cuddle while I ate.

After lunch I worked on purging more...I filled over one trash bag so far and was able to eliminate one of the little stands in the office, my goal is to make it not feel so cluttered...so throwing things away is a great way to do that😉.

Sleepy babies while I worked, Deegan's just saving all of his energy for bedtime/playtime...

By mid afternoon I got everything ready to throw in the instant pot for dinner - I have this roast recipe posted on the blog!

The rest of the afternoon I decided I needed to take it easy (Seriously so hard to do when all you want to do is get up and purge every room of the house! 😂.

Tuesday

This was Tuesday morning - sweet puppy cuddles when he knew something wasn't right with momma.

I started having joint pain and swelling Monday night and it spread and worsened overnight.
I called my GI drs office right when they opened at 8 and by 10 we decided to just head to Des Moines and go to the ER if I we didn't get a call back by the time we got up there.
The nurse actually called back before we even got out of Osceola😂.
We went to the clinic and had labs done and then headed to Walmart to pick up a prescription, we'd just pulled into Walmart when we got a call back from the clinic that the Dr wanted to see me (My regular doc is out so I saw the one who was filling in and thankfully deals with crohns patience also).
After her checking me out she realized I was much worse than expected so they sent me downstairs to the infusion clinic and got a steroid through an Iv to jumpstart the healing process and then was put on 40mg of prednisone (the most I've been on😬).
I talked Joe into taking me to a Dessert place in waukee for a treat.

And after getting a snapchat from a friend of Papa Murphys last week I was seriously craving some! so we picked this up on the way home for supper - we got the stuffed pizza and cheese bread.
1. Soo delicious - both of them!
2. We're going to have leftovers for a week😂.

Deegan took over my new heating pad as soon as Joe plugged it in😂.
Whether it is the space heater in the bathroom, heated blanket, or heating pad, he knows as soon as they turn on and heads straight for it..

Dublin was attached at the hip as soon as we got home. Nothing I love more than puppy cuddles when I'm not feeling well - Other than Joe cuddles of course😉.

I have to say...Joe does an excellent job taking care of me!
He had all my bottles opened for me, all my medication lids unscrewed among other things incase I still could grip/lift anything on Wednesday.

We were both so exhausted we were in bed by 7:30!

Wednesday

And this is the life of prednisone...especially since I didn't take it until 2:30 pm Tuesday - I was up from 12:30 to about 4 (watched some Gilmore girls to keep me entertained) and then up again at 6:00.

I finally got up at 6:30 to have breakfast so I could take my prednisone so that I hopefully get some sleep tonight! I was able to fall back to sleep for an hour or so before I was up for the day.
Between the pain, no sleep, and stomach pains I felt like I'd been hit by a truck😬.

Morning puppy cuddles.

And some evening puppy kisses😉.

My plan for the day - Sit on the couch and relax!

Thursday

Thursday I was up and about getting ready for my biopsy...

We got checked in at 9:00am and got to break out of there around 1:00pm, Overall it went well and I'll find out the results from it when I see my Dr on Tuesday.
I was in some pain from the biopsy but nothing terrible.

We made a pit stop for me to pick up this cozy sweater from a friend that has an online boutique and she threw in the adorable hat she made!

After that we headed through the Starbucks drive through for a yummy sandwich and drink and headed home.

We had to pick up a couple things at Walmart when we got back to town.
I had read about these online and decided to pick some up! I haven't tried them yet so I'll let ya'll know what I think when I eat them! If I do end up having to go gluten free hopefully they'll be a good option😉.

My sweet little guard doggies.

And beggers...

And we ended the night with cuddles of course.

Friday
I didn't realize till I was getting released after my biopsy how careful I had to be afterwards...no driving, lifting over 10lbs or anything strenuous for a few days...

Joe got the house picked up and cleaned for me Thursday night so I didn't have to worry about anything.

He goes to a mens retreat every year through our church so him and my brother headed out in the afternoon to try and beat the snowstorm and had me all set up with anything I may need - basically made sure I was stocked with snacks and things😉.

My little guard doggie...

Saturday

I started Saturday morning with some tea and honey and orange juice with GSE (Which I later found out if you're on any medication do not take this! It can affect how your medication is working. But if you're not taking any medication...this is excellent if you have a cold!)

And then settled in for some cuddles.

I got this little box set of cards you color at the Christmas Bash and finally got around to getting it out .

Caught in the act...playing in the new water bowl😂.

Ok not the prettiest picture...but so yummy! I cooked up some ground chicken to make sloppy joes - I just mixed in some ketchup, mustard, and relish. A much healthier option!

I finally tried out the other new gel polish I got at the supply store last week and love it! It's not as fun as the blue but its a very pretty color😊.

I decided to do a little at home facial fun in the afternoon - I have soo many little sizes from Birchbox and Ipsy and then I found a bunch of perfectly posh samples my cousin had given me and decided to try this one. I seriously LOVED it, It smelled like spearmint which was amazing and my skin felt wonderful after I took it off, As soon as I finish up all my others I'll definitely be ordering this from her! (P.S. If you need a consultant let me know and I'll get you her info😊).

Healthy lunch so I can have an unhealthy supper...😂.

Such sweet cuddles...😀.

A little something to leave you with for the week. I seriously think we could all hear this and should keep it in mind often!

National Peanut Butter Day

In honor of National peanut butter day coming up this Sunday the 24th, I thought I would share my favorite  peanut butter recipes from the blog.  I don’t know about you, but I never need an excuse for peanut butter, BUT I do love using these National (insert whatever here) day as a fun way to celebrate some of my favorite things.  To start us off I’ll share my favorite first! This is a little generic and certainly not all about peanut butter but my favorite is definitely  Chocolate Nobake Cookies (with peanut butter of course). And now for the rest in really no particular order because I couldn’t possibly decide between them all🤷‍♀️. Peanut blossoms   Peanut butter cookies Peanut butter sandwich cookies Peanut butter bars -  Chocolate peanut butter bars   Chocolate scotcheroos  Chocolate peanut butter fudge  Peanut butter cups  Chocolate peanut butter pie  Peanut butter popcorn And lastly...if you want peanut butter but with a li...

Instant Pot Hamburger Helper

Instant Pot Hamburger Helper To get started you're going to turn your instant pot to the sauce feature. When it shows "Hot" on the display you're ready to add your olive oil and hamburger. Throw in all of your seasonings and brown the hamburger. Once its browned, add the noodles and more seasonings. Then add the two cans of beef broth and try to push all the ingredients down so there's not too much sitting on the surface. Then set the instant pot to cook for 8 minutes and do a quick release. Add in your milk, cheese, and party dip or sour cream if you have it. Turn it back onto sauté and stir everything together until it's melted. And serve! I don't know about you guys...but in our opinion you can't have hamburger helper without some bread and butter to go along with it😉. Ingredients: 1lb hamburger 8 oz elbow noodles 2 14 oz cans beef broth  1/2 - 1 cup milk  8 oz shredded ch...

Life update + some new projects

Lifish update I’ll do a full “anniversary post” in July but I’ve just had a lot of thoughts lately about life, crohns, everything. To be honest I’ve had a lot of confusion and even discouragement which is not normally me. I’m coming up on two years and while I’m no where near how I was two years ago (I mean that was pretty bad...😳) I’m also nowhere near where I thought I would be, I remember thinking that on the year anniversary too and I kind of think that feeling has just progressed since then😕. I’m no better than I was 8 months ago to be completely honest with you and in some ways may or worse? I am so so thankful to have a diagnosis and know what’s wrong with me, but with that I thought would come answers and healing. I’ve had some answers and some healing of course, but there’s still really a lot of unknown! In the beginning I used to talk about finding my “new normal” well I’m here to tell you 2 years later I still haven’t found it😂. Learning to navigate something new ...
