June 1st -8th

This ones going to start on Saturday since I did a May recap instead of weekly!

The face of a puppy who was not about getting up๐Ÿ˜‚.

An oldie but a goodie...This is from my beauty school days but its still one of my favorites!

He looks like such an old man๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.

Once we got up and around we were going to take a ride up to Indianola but ended up stopping and visiting at my parents for a little bit, the previous owners finally got all of their stuff out of the shop so we got it opened up and took a look around. It's going to take a lot of work but has lots of potential!

When we got home from our ride Joe started mowing the yard and the dogs and I decided to spend some time outside, One of my favorite things to do when I feel myself getting dehydrated is crush some ice in my ninja and mix it with gatorade.

Once Joe finished mowing we headed out to bike night at the casino to meet up with a few people and then we all rode to Family Table to get some dinner afterwards, we were so tired after all of that it ended up being an early night.

Sunday when we got up we decided to head out on the bike in the morning.
Riding is one of our favorite pastimes and is a cheap way to go spend some time together. I'm telling you its such a perfect way to unwind and relax, and you get to take in the countryside so much better on a motorcycle.

We ended up in Milo and have always heard such good things about Houstons on Main so we decided to check it out.

Joe was soo excited, they had chicken gizzards๐Ÿ˜’. I won't ever be trying them but he was LOVING them.

But for real though...Seriously amazing food. I head the steak sandwich, baked potato, and mozzarella sticks, I've never ordered a steak sandwich from a restaurant but this one was so perfectly done.

Thanks to my facebook time hop...Nobake cookies popped up in my memories so naturally when we got home from our ride I had to make some...๐Ÿคท‍♀️
We headed out to the backyard to do some more yard work, the dogs were totally game on cleaning up the grass for Joe๐Ÿ˜‚.

A friend of ours came over to help get all the wood cut up and finish getting the yard mowed, having two people working on it helped soo much!

I took advantage of them having the fire going to make some smores.

Possibly the best part of the day...Joes on a mission to get all of his favorite old video games, in the process he scored this one for me with Mario! my absolute favorite game!

All that play made this little guy exhausted.

He was still feeling all that activity Monday morning and wasn't having it with the whole waking up thing.

Breakfast...it has oatmeal and milk so its totally acceptable right??

I meal prepared for Joe and my brother and it was a total hit.
Heres the recipe I used, It was such an easy one and fairly healthy too!

After I finished meal prep  I decided to finally tackle me of my sewing projects.
Dublin thought it was there for him...๐Ÿ˜’.

I bought some curtain panels at the outlet place uptown awhile back for $2 a piece.
I cut each panel in half and re sewed them so I could have two panels per window since I didn't need to full panels.

The many poses of Deegan...he LOVES this blanket we confiscated from my momma.
The finished product! This whole project cost less than $8 and I love the way it turned out.

Then we got the other curtain rod hung properly (well kind of, the rods not strong enough but it works for now!)
Next on the list is touching up the paint on the walls, trimming out the windows, finishing the table (putting an apoxy clear coat over the top), and find some chairs we like.
You know...Just a few little things๐Ÿ˜‚.

Tuesday was Joe and I's 8th wedding anniversary so I threw a little throwback picture in for you guys๐Ÿ˜Š. This is my absolute favorite picture from that day, A family friend captured it right after we said I do and I love the genuine happiness and candidness of it it.

We stopped at a gas station in Des Moines and saw this adorable guy! I had to get a picture to send mom๐Ÿ˜‰.

I had my second injection Tuesday morning and this was the one where Joe got to do it for the first time under the infusion nurses supervision, He did a great job and I think he'll do just fine in the future, he didn't love having to stab me with a needle but I'm pretty glad he's willing to so I don't have too๐Ÿ˜‚.

After my injection we decided to head to the spot where we said "I do" Thankfully there was a guy there that was willing to snap a picture of us๐Ÿ˜Š.

Next stop was West End Salvage where we had our reception, it was a fun day of going down memory lane๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ.

So we always say we're going to try new restaurants...and we even had one picked out but we ended up going back to Angry Goldfish, its hard when you find a place you like to stray from the path!

So happy to have momma home...

A few of our finds for the day.

I've been hearing rave reviews from bloggers about this living proof dry shampoo (So far I am LOVING it), I needed to restock deep conditioner and then decided to try out the other products. I'm not sure about the shampoo and conditioner yet but I'm loving everything else.

Joes goodwill finds, he was in heaven๐Ÿ˜‚.

My goodwill finds, I got all of these for less than $50! Rock Revival, 7 for all Mankind Silver, Express, and Maurices, I'd say a pretty good deal considering the brands and the shape they're in!

We ended up renting this movie to finish the night, So funny!

Wednesday I decided to finish off what I had in the freezer of these English muffin breakfast pizzas.
So yummy...and now I need to get another batch in the freezer.

A friend came over in the morning and then the dogs and I hung out in the bedroom with the fans going.
They think they're dying, We haven't put our air conditioners in yet but with the fans going its really not to bad inside!

When Joe got off work Wednesday I talked him into taking another bike trip up to Milo so I could try out the pizza (They only serve it after 4:00pm).

Totally worth the drive again! My favorite is more a Neapolitan style pizza but this is still made in a wood fired oven and it was awesome.

Such a beautiful ride home.

My uncle ended up in the hospital Thursday morning so I went up and met mom over her lunch so we could go to the hospital for awhile.

I've ran the dishwasher so many times while I was gone but that ended today...I got home to see it had popped off the faucet and had been running for a couple hours๐Ÿ˜ฌ, There was a little water on the counter and floors but thankfully no major flooding.

My Trader Joes finds from the day.

I haven't tried any of these ones yet but I'm super excited to try them!

I was on the hunt for a couple more pairs of jean shorts so I ran to Platos closet and found these express ones for $14! I've been looking for a light rain jacket with a hood too and scored this one on clearance for $8, I love find bargains!

After I ran a couple errands in Des Moines I had some time before I needed to get home to go to my parents with Joe so I stopped and visited with a friend for a little bit, You never realize how nice it is to get out and visit with people until you make yourself do it.

After that we headed up to my parents for dinner and to set up the pool.

Soo yummy!

We got it all set up and now we just have to find someone to fill it...My parents are on well water right now so we would end up draining the whole thing if we used that to fill it...

We ended up staying later than intended but had such a beautiful ride home!

My ootd Friday - The tank top I think was $6? at Target and the $14 shorts I got Thursday.

We've been laying down the law with Deegan...Too long of having free range of the house๐Ÿ˜‘.
But he's actually catching on quickly! They were so unamused with having to sit/stay to get their treats.

I ran some errands in the morning and went and tanned and then decided to get a treat at the coffee shop, I saw they had these mint chocolate chip cookies today which is what pulled me in, To be honest the cookie wasn't that great and I didn't finish it, but she made my iced caramel mocha PERFECTLY!

Before I went to the store I saw it was National Donut Day so naturally I needed some donuts in my life...I found some ideas to make them in the air fryer and boy did I not realize what we'd been missing out on!
All these were was canned biscuits with some cinnamon sugar, super easy and soo good.
(And not fried in oil!)

I've not been doing well at taking it easy...so after I ran donuts to Joe over his lunch I decided to lay in bed to the laundry folded.

All about the cuddles.

They were such great helpers while I was folding!

That face...๐Ÿ˜‚ waiting so patiently for me to throw the ball for him.

The rest of the afternoon I spent working on blog post and watching Revenge.

(Deegan making sure Joe does it right)
Once Joe got home he got to work on the yard. Seriously...being a homeowner is great, but all that work that comes with it is never ending! It feels so great though when you finish a project.

My brother came over and helped Joe get the yard work done and had supper with us.
While they were working on the yard I had a burst of energy and decided to FINALLY clean off our back porch.
There are no before pictures because I was WAY too embarrassed to show that to you guys!

To put it simplyly...you literally couldn't even get the screen door opened all the way, and I filled almost an entire trash can๐Ÿ˜’.
Tell me I'm not the only one that lets things get that bad?? My house is always clean but you know...spiders and things...have been keeping me from tackling this project.
We still have some big ideas for this space but at least all of the shelves are usable space now and everything has a place! I love walking in everyday now.

Once we finished supper we decided to have a little fire.
Honestly its little things like this in life that most people would take for granted...and I certainly did until I couldn't anymore.
The last couple summers it has been a struggle to even do something as simple as sit outside and enjoy a fire, It was so great just sitting out there and being able to unwind.

Dublin was over it...

I got this snapchat from Joe's mom when she got home from work, Max got to partake in National donut day too๐Ÿ˜‰.

Saturday when we got up and around Joe changed out the spark plugs in the car so the dogs and I kept him company.

The needle on the pump broke approximately 5 seconds after I took this picture...But we got the other basketball aired up enough to play for about 20 minutes, That was my workout quota for at least a week I swear! but it was a good start, When I was feeling better we used to go play basketball all the time as a exercise activity and we loved it! Slowly but surely I'll work back up to playing more than 15-20 minutes๐Ÿ˜‰.

Saturday was my mommas birthday so we went to Des Moines and got pedicures and Starbucks๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ.
(My photography skills could totally use some work...๐Ÿ˜‚)

Once we got back to my parents The guys had gotten the first load of water out there to start filling up the pool and then we had grilled dinner there for moms birthday.

A friend of ours put together a little "Thank you" bonfire for Joe at our house and it turned into the perfect evening for one.

๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™

All of those weekend activities were exhausting for the puppies.

Our inspiration for the week.
There is soo much truth to this! If you're feeling discouraged about something no matter what it may be, Keep this in mind!!

National Peanut Butter Day

In honor of National peanut butter day coming up this Sunday the 24th, I thought I would share my favorite  peanut butter recipes from the blog.  I don’t know about you, but I never need an excuse for peanut butter, BUT I do love using these National (insert whatever here) day as a fun way to celebrate some of my favorite things.  To start us off I’ll share my favorite first! This is a little generic and certainly not all about peanut butter but my favorite is definitely  Chocolate Nobake Cookies (with peanut butter of course). And now for the rest in really no particular order because I couldn’t possibly decide between them all๐Ÿคท‍♀️. Peanut blossoms   Peanut butter cookies Peanut butter sandwich cookies Peanut butter bars -  Chocolate peanut butter bars   Chocolate scotcheroos  Chocolate peanut butter fudge  Peanut butter cups  Chocolate peanut butter pie  Peanut butter popcorn And lastly...if you want peanut butter but with a li...

Instant Pot Hamburger Helper

Instant Pot Hamburger Helper To get started you're going to turn your instant pot to the sauce feature. When it shows "Hot" on the display you're ready to add your olive oil and hamburger. Throw in all of your seasonings and brown the hamburger. Once its browned, add the noodles and more seasonings. Then add the two cans of beef broth and try to push all the ingredients down so there's not too much sitting on the surface. Then set the instant pot to cook for 8 minutes and do a quick release. Add in your milk, cheese, and party dip or sour cream if you have it. Turn it back onto sautรฉ and stir everything together until it's melted. And serve! I don't know about you guys...but in our opinion you can't have hamburger helper without some bread and butter to go along with it๐Ÿ˜‰. Ingredients: 1lb hamburger 8 oz elbow noodles 2 14 oz cans beef broth  1/2 - 1 cup milk  8 oz shredded ch...

Life update + some new projects

Lifish update I’ll do a full “anniversary post” in July but I’ve just had a lot of thoughts lately about life, crohns, everything. To be honest I’ve had a lot of confusion and even discouragement which is not normally me. I’m coming up on two years and while I’m no where near how I was two years ago (I mean that was pretty bad...๐Ÿ˜ณ) I’m also nowhere near where I thought I would be, I remember thinking that on the year anniversary too and I kind of think that feeling has just progressed since then๐Ÿ˜•. I’m no better than I was 8 months ago to be completely honest with you and in some ways may or worse? I am so so thankful to have a diagnosis and know what’s wrong with me, but with that I thought would come answers and healing. I’ve had some answers and some healing of course, but there’s still really a lot of unknown! In the beginning I used to talk about finding my “new normal” well I’m here to tell you 2 years later I still haven’t found it๐Ÿ˜‚. Learning to navigate something new ...
