Weekly Recap June 30th - July 6th

This is the Sunday morning vibes the dogs were feeling...

Deegan needs a little extra loving to get him going for the day.

Once we got up and around I got some steak marinating for supper, which actually didn't end up being supper until like Wednesday...🤷‍♀️.

Deegan was reeallly hoping for a little taste.

This smelled soo good!
My  ootd... We were going for a motorcycle ride, hence the the headband and no makeup.

I thought I'd show you guys what I got Saturday! I got both of these at Style Encore in West Glen (Next to Platos closet) I got them both on clearance for like $13!

I got all these at Ross over at Southridge Mall It was kind of slim pickings but I'm so in love with all these! especially the sweatshirt and the "Hangry" shirt.

When we got home from our ride Dublin thought I needed a little bath😏.

Joe snapped this of us, I thought it was so sweet!

Then I talked Joe going to the ice cream shop...and as I'm typing this I really want another ice cream cone😬.

We were going to grill to meal prep and it started raining...so Joe just used the cast iron skillet to get everything cooked.

They thought daddies steak smelled yummy too!

While Joe was cooking I was getting everything else ready for him and my brothers lunches.

All ready for the week!

For Joe's lunches we did a salad with steak, then for his breaks he did a boiled egg, sliced cucumbers and fruit gushers...because balance🤷‍♀️.

We're still working on my brother😉 but this is a lot better than him going to McDonalds...We did a cheeseburger with pudding, and then grapes for his snacks.

The fridge is all stocked for the week! Joe was doing smoothies for certain meals too so he got almond milk for that and then we had lettuce in the fridge for other meals for him as well, and I always like to be stocked up on eggs, especially when they're so cheap!

Dublin was so ready for bed...As soon as I said something to them he went straight for the pillows and made himself nice and comfy.

Deegan can't hang in the mornings...especially on Mondays😂.

My ootd Monday - I got this shirt on clearance at American Eagle a couple years ago and its seriously one of my go to's especially in the summer when you're going in and out of the heat and cold.

I've been struggling really ad with headaches and neck and shoulder pains so I finally gave in and headed to Waukee to see my chiropractor, the one time I didn't call my mom to check his hours or whatever I get up there and he was closed for the week😩.
Soo I decided to treat myself with Starbucks.

The rest of the day was such a whirlwind...I went to my parents to swim and didn't have my key and no one was there so I drove home, got my key, and headed back up, not even 5 minutes after I got in the pool I called my primary physician to make an appointment to see him and they could get me in that afternoon...so I got right back out of the pool went home, got ready and headed back to Des Moines for the second time😬.

Later that day when I got home Joe was doing gym so I hung outside with everyone.

Not even 5 minutes of being outside I remembered I didn't pick the trash can up and went in to check...Its a good thing I did and a good thing Joe had taken it out that day because Deegan already had it knocked over...For real...tell me any tips you have for keeping your dogs out of the trash?? We've never had this problem with Dublin

Joe had a great turn out and some new people!

Afterwards I talked him into taking me to Subway for supper, when I'm not feeling well its my go too, nice and bland but still yummy.

These babies were pooped by the end of the night.

So Tuesday I decided to try and sit in the chair to help my posture and my neck, the dogs were soo thrown off by it, theyre used to momma being on the couch where they can cuddled.

Dublin giving me the eye when I sat down😂.

Deegan kept laying in the office so he could "keep an eye on me" I swear...
My ootd Tuesday - I'm so in love with this outfit! its soo comfy.

I spent some time outside with the doggies so they could get some sun.

When you're not feeling well nothing is better than chicken noodle soup am I right?? The pepper probably didnt help but oh well🤷‍♀️.

Sometimes you just need a little cuddles...

He didn't last long before he climbed in my lap.

Later on in the afternoon we headed up to my parents to grill and enjoy the pool.

Can you spot the dog??

My poor pale skinned husband...hes been getting burnt every single time we spend outside.

He found goggles one of the kiddos left at my parents...I think we need to get him a bigger size😉.

One of the blooms from the rose bush we got my momma for mothers day.

Has anyone ever heard of creme de menthe dessert?? If you haven't, you're seriously missing out. Its basically the best thing ever! I'll share the recipe sometime.

After we left my parents we took a ride around town on the motorcycle and stopped over at my friends house, one of her dogs Appalo was all about the loving, actually they all were, but he was the only one that was standing up at the gate😂 I probably shouldn't have encouraged that...but he was so darn cute.

These little babies were soo tired after leaving my parents. They got a lot of running around in which is my favorite...because then Deegan isn't a little wild one before bed.

Wednesday morning I went for my second iron infusion. This time around I'm doing the two instead of the five, I can't remember the names of each but if this one works as good I'm happy to only have to go twice vs. five. We'll see in August how my levels look!

Wednesday was a whirlwind. After my infusion I went and had lunch with Joe, then ran to Lamoni to pick something up from one of Joe's sponsors, then headed back through Leon so I could stop and see the chiropractor down there, I was soo miserable by the time I made it there I was pretty sore afterwards but It helped soo much. He said with how bad my knots are I'm down to about 25% usage of my rotator cuff and headed for an injury...😞.
He showed me some exercises to do to help get the knots out and he has a website that has all of them you can check out here, I've been trying to do them once a day or so and they definitely help!

Everyone made it back to our house about the same time, momma was bringing me water. and of course cuddling some puppies while she was here.

My dad was dropping my brother off to get a haircut - I told him I couldn't do it but I'd walk Joe through how to cut it for him.

He didnt do too bad! Chris wanted the top left long and regretted that by the next day...I tried telling him🤷‍♀️.

This dog kills me...

He kept bringing me toys to throw since I wasn't doing it fast enough.

I made up another batch of homemade hamburger helper for me to eat throughout the week, When I find something that doesn't make me sick I stick with it...and I'm so glad this one doesn't because its delicious😂.

Never far of course...

For supper Joe cooked up some steak, I had a baked potato (No skin) with mine and he had a side salad with his.

Brian (Our friend and the fight promotor for the fights Joe fights on and helps with) came down to bring him tickets and do some time in the gym after supper.

I sat outside for awhile and watched them train and then our friend Jordan came to visit! Her and Matt (some of our really good friends, Matt was Joe's best man and we were both in their wedding. Fun fact, they got married on our 5 year anniversary!) moved to Tennessee a few years ago and are back visiting over the 4th.

Deegan was so upset he was being left out.
Matt joined us a little later and we all headed up to the carnival. It was DEAD. Aside from us, Jordan and Matt, Brian and his wife and two kids there may have been like 5 other people. But I was fine with that, I got my funnel cake and lemonade so I was happy.

Joe showing off all his sweet playstation games...😂.

Deegan was obsessed with Jordan, he knows true dog lover when he sees one.

When you get these two together it is like no time has passed!

Deegan was not feeling it Thursday morning, well is he ever feeling it in the morning? The answer is definitely no.

Still having neck/shoulder pain, and being so sore from the chiropractor I talked Joe into drying my hair for me. I never have to talk him into anything, he didn't mind doing it😊.

We went up and watched the parade and Joe's cousins father in laws house, its right on the parade route and a perfect location!

When we got home from the parade we loaded up the doggies and headed up to my parents to spend some time in the pool and grill out.

Dublin just hanging out with great grandma, and grandpa.
Can I just say I'm SUPER excited to decorate that fireplace in the top left corner for Christmas!!

He was soo happy to get some time in his little pool.

It was such a perfect day to be in the water!

This is seriously one of my new favorite pictures, I'm going to get it printed off and frame it. I love the authenticity of it, not staged and pure joy.
Joe's reply when he saw this picture was he loves how happy I look and its a real smile, because most times I may be smiling but it might not be a "real" one.

Daddy getting to work grilling up some hotdogs for us.

Still haven't gotten him some bigger goggles...😂.

Dublin was soaking up grandmas lovins.
Guys I gotta brag on little Deegan for a second...We've been dealing with some aggression issues with him. It all boils down to between Joe working so much and me being so sick since we got home we didn't show him that we were the "pack leaders" and if you don't do that they will take on that role. We've been working with him really hard the last couple months and we can see a huge improvement! he's doing better around new people, we haven't had him around kids or babies for awhile and he was around our friends little 5 month old and our niece who's 5 today and he did soo amazing!! We were so proud of him and encouraged by his behavior. We have aways to go but he's made great strides.

After the pool we headed back home to set off some fireworks. Thankfully neither Joe or his brother hurt themselves😉.

We went up the the high school parking lot to watch the fireworks they set off at the casino. We came to this spot two years ago and it was a good one but we're wondering if they moved where they set them off because it wasn't that great. we'll find a spot closer next year!

After we got home from those we went down the street to our friends that lives a couple houses down and they set off even more fireworks. We said we just need to all get together next year and do it at one of our houses since we're so close and have a bigger display!

Poor Joe...he kept saying when we were in the pool that he was getting sunburned and I kept replying that you're not red...Thank you daddy for my olive skin tone...😂. He was soo burnt😬.

These two were so tired after all the days activities. They both did great with the fireworks. I turned the fans up and had the tv going so it wasn't as loud for them. Deegan was watching them out the back window as Joe and his brother were setting them off😂.

Mmkk I realize the picture doesn't look good but I promise you, it was delicious. My lunch on Friday. Joes trying to watch what he eats so he had a salad with a small side of hamburger helper😂.

How sweet is this?? Dublin doesn't let Deegan cuddle with him very often so I have to document it when he actually does.

My ootd - I got this Maurices tank at Goodwill for like $1 or something and I love it! even better, its reversible! and the shorts are the ones I got at Ross for like $14.
Also, clearly I like that color, my top, sandals, toe nail polish, and phone case all matched🤷‍♀️.

We had a pretty relaxing day Friday and the doggies got a little sun.

We went to Percussions to eat and catch up with everyone since Matt and Jordan were back. all four of the guys have been friends for YEARS, They love reliving the glory days when they get together...😂.

We ran home to put our leftovers in the fridge and I found this...someone...meaning Deegan tried to get the chocolate chip bars off the top of the toaster oven...no luck thankfully😂.
Then we met everyone back up at the Carnival uptown to get some more yummy food and hangout. We were up there till about 10:00 - way past our bedtime but we had so much fun visiting!

My ootd Saturday - simple and comfy. Exactly what I was going for!

I cut Joe's cousins hair Saturday afternoon. She only gets it cut like 2-3 times a year and she has soo much, I could make a wig out of how much we cut every time 😂.
After I got done cutting her hair we headed out to the park for Joe's other cousins boy's birthday party. We were out there for a couple hours and then ran up town last minute for me to get a shirt...I'll show you when it gets here I had to order It but I'm pretty excited, It has to do with Christmas😁.
After that we decided to take a bike ride for a little bit and then remembered it was bike night out at the Casino so we headed out there for a bit.
This is the 3rd one and we've been to every one so far...The first night had nothing to do but tons of bikes...the second had a little more to do and less bikes, This one really didn't have many bikes at all...They had some pig races, that was really cute and now I want a little pig! And they had some bbq stand there, they were really good but pretty expensive...

After that we headed uptown to soak up the last night of the Carnival. I love this time of year so much! I snapped this picture when we stopped to listen to the band for a little bit.

We came home with a funnel cake and it was delicious and a perfect way to end the Carnival.

💙💙💙

I started working on the chalkboard this morning when I was waiting on Joes cousin to get here so I thought I'd get it finished (Spoiler...its still not finished🤷‍♀️).

Then I switched into pajamas and got comfy on the couch, and Deegan got comfy on me...😂.

I finished off the very last piece of the creme de menthe dessert...until my birthday, right mommy??
It was technically Joe's piece but he knows how much I like it that he always lets me have the last one😍.

Deegan was REALLY hoping I was going to share, I didn't.

I heard Dublin making noise in the office so I went and checked on him. I found that he'd pulled the clean clothes out of the basket to make himself a nice little bed...😒 He's lucky the floors had just been cleaned.

It has been a whirlwind of a week. In some ways super busy and some ways slow and relaxing. I told Joe as exhausted as I was by the end of the weekend, I was soo thankful for how much I was able to do!
Obviously this year is so much better than last considering I spent the week of the fourth in the hospital last year.
But the thing is the last several years I haven't been able to go do stuff because I was either to weak to or afraid of getting sick, etc. We have missed out on soo much the last several years from birthday parties, get togethers, events, so many things I love to do and haven't been able to.
It was so great spending time with family, going to the parade and the carnival and all of the things in between.

1. I saved this because the puppy is so cute...
2. This is soo true...seriously don't wait until the next best thing whatever it may be to be happy...Life is short, be present in every moment and just be happy! If there is something in your life bringing you down, re evaluate your situation to take away the negative.

National Peanut Butter Day

In honor of National peanut butter day coming up this Sunday the 24th, I thought I would share my favorite  peanut butter recipes from the blog.  I don’t know about you, but I never need an excuse for peanut butter, BUT I do love using these National (insert whatever here) day as a fun way to celebrate some of my favorite things.  To start us off I’ll share my favorite first! This is a little generic and certainly not all about peanut butter but my favorite is definitely  Chocolate Nobake Cookies (with peanut butter of course). And now for the rest in really no particular order because I couldn’t possibly decide between them all🤷‍♀️. Peanut blossoms   Peanut butter cookies Peanut butter sandwich cookies Peanut butter bars -  Chocolate peanut butter bars   Chocolate scotcheroos  Chocolate peanut butter fudge  Peanut butter cups  Chocolate peanut butter pie  Peanut butter popcorn And lastly...if you want peanut butter but with a li...

Instant Pot Hamburger Helper

Instant Pot Hamburger Helper To get started you're going to turn your instant pot to the sauce feature. When it shows "Hot" on the display you're ready to add your olive oil and hamburger. Throw in all of your seasonings and brown the hamburger. Once its browned, add the noodles and more seasonings. Then add the two cans of beef broth and try to push all the ingredients down so there's not too much sitting on the surface. Then set the instant pot to cook for 8 minutes and do a quick release. Add in your milk, cheese, and party dip or sour cream if you have it. Turn it back onto sauté and stir everything together until it's melted. And serve! I don't know about you guys...but in our opinion you can't have hamburger helper without some bread and butter to go along with it😉. Ingredients: 1lb hamburger 8 oz elbow noodles 2 14 oz cans beef broth  1/2 - 1 cup milk  8 oz shredded ch...

Life update + some new projects

Lifish update I’ll do a full “anniversary post” in July but I’ve just had a lot of thoughts lately about life, crohns, everything. To be honest I’ve had a lot of confusion and even discouragement which is not normally me. I’m coming up on two years and while I’m no where near how I was two years ago (I mean that was pretty bad...😳) I’m also nowhere near where I thought I would be, I remember thinking that on the year anniversary too and I kind of think that feeling has just progressed since then😕. I’m no better than I was 8 months ago to be completely honest with you and in some ways may or worse? I am so so thankful to have a diagnosis and know what’s wrong with me, but with that I thought would come answers and healing. I’ve had some answers and some healing of course, but there’s still really a lot of unknown! In the beginning I used to talk about finding my “new normal” well I’m here to tell you 2 years later I still haven’t found it😂. Learning to navigate something new ...
