Ohh Deegan...We started off Sunday (A little late) with cutting Joe's hair, Deegan thinks anyone who's sitting in that chair (That's stuck??) is here to see him.
Obviously not impressed with me for folding laundry instead of petting him.
We ran to Indianola for some Jimmy Johns and Walmart. It was raining so I was super excited to wear my new Jacket I got from Costco!
I made Joe endure some Britney Spears on the way up, He's a good sport😉
My hot Jimmy Johns date😉.
Joe really wanted to see the new Pikachu movie so we rented it and watched it when we got home. He's still a kid/nerd at heart.
No personal space with these two.
But obviously I really don't mind.
Look at that face!
Dublin's getting better and better at letting Deegan cuddle, and Deegan is LOVING it.
Ok Ok I'm done with the puppy pictures.
I was sooo excited for the new Aurora Teagarden movie that came on at 8!
It's one of my favorites on the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries channel.
I had leftover Tatertot Casserole and a role for supper.
Did you really think I was done with the puppy pictures??
I sure hope not...
Because they were just way too cute to not share.
Oh that face...
OK so Monday morning I decided to try something new that I'd been planning on doing for awhile and never gotten around too it. I'm going to start sharing what I use on my hair, makeup, etc.
Ok left to right...I've been using Pulp Riot color on Joe's hair for awhile now because it seems to hold the longest out of all the fashion colors. I really wanted a cute bag they had (I think I shared that in last weeks post, or maybe the week before?) Anyways you had to buy two products to get the bag for free and the lady working said they could barely keep them on the shelf so naturally I had to try them...
I started with the Leave in Conditioner and so far I am LOVING it! I can definitely tell it helps but it doesn't way my hair down which is most important to me.
Next I used the Kenra Blow dry spray, if I've done any of your hair before you know how much I love my Kenra blow dry spray, I've been using it for years and swear by it.
Next is the ColorProof Lift it Foam Mousse
You spray it at your new growth and rub it in for the max amount of lift.
Then I put it on the Moroccan Oil medium hold styling gel. This is one you might think you don't necessarily need, But if you want to hold your curl in or your straight, straight this is an important step.
Lastly I put in the Moroccan Oil Smoothing Lotion, This is going to help with frizz, humidity, dry hair, etc.
After I get it all in then I brush everything through to make sure its all distributed.
All blow dried! Theres times I get more volume than others, I'm not different than you guys sometimes when you try to figure out what your own hair needs! I'm figuring out the best way to get volume (without too much) for the length of hair I have right now.
Once I dried it I smoothed out some of the ends and then I used the curling barrel to curl it.
Finished!
Once I let it completely cool - I did my makeup and then lightly ran my fingers through it.
I used this hairspray on it. I love a light hold spray so this is perfect. But if you like a strong hold I highly recommend using the Kenra 25 Volume Spray!
Onto makeup...I grabbed my brushes, beauty blender, eyeshadow and face makeup.
I started by putting on the concealer I put it on in a V shape like shown in the picture. If you really want to go all out (I do if we're getting pictures done of something but otherwise I don't worry about it) You can put it along your jaw line, the top of your nose, and come up between your brows - That's going to help brighten areas and add definition.
I use the beauty blender - Get it wet, keep squeezing until it's almost doubled in size, then use a towel to squeeze any excess then press it into your skin.
Then I use this powder. I've used the Mac studio fix powder foundation but I needed a darker color when I started tanning and found this one at Walmart, I actually really love it! I feel like my skin can't breath when I do most liquid foundations so I've found a powder foundation or loose powder works best for me.
Next up is the Jaclyn Hill Pallet, I bought it basically as soon as it came out online but I'm pretty sure you can get this at Ulta.
To start I went in with this brown as the base color in the crease.
Using this crease brush. My mother inlaw got me a set of these at Kohls after I saw and loved hers and they're awesome! and reasonably priced.
So I got this 10 years ago in beauty school. You can use water but I Recommend getting something specifically for eyeshadow as it will stay longer. If you have questions about it just send me a message and I'll find a good one for you!
I used this brush and wet it with the eyeshadow transformer.
Then I went in with this blue color from the middle of the eye to the edge.
Then I went in with this fluffier brush.
With this pink color and blended it in with the pink, I also went back in with just a tiny bit of the brown color to blend out the blue a little.
Not a great picture...but the end result! I finished off with the blue Marc Jacobs eyeliner I showed you guys a few recaps back.
Then I went in with this mascara.
Finished!
If you have any questions about anything I did with my makeup or hair, again feel free to message me!
My ootd - Rocking my Toby Keith fan club t-shirt, silver jeans, and Nike sandals.
These two knew we were getting ready to leave and were so not impressed.
Right before we were leaving I got some happy mail from a friend and it was so sweet💜.
I loved these stickers she added to the back😉. It doesn't take much at all to just drop a note to a friend and let them know you're thinking of them.
We haven't been able to go to the fair for 3 years because of how sick I've been so it was so great to be back.
this is our family friends soap booth. It's up by the Susan Knapp and you absolutely have to check it out! I've been using this literally my whole life. they've been at the fair for 26 years! Isn't that crazy?? and should say something in itself how great they are😉.
My favorite is the spearmint soap but they've got a lot of different options for you! They've also expanded to liquid hand soaps, chapstick, perfume rollers, tea tree balm, dog soap (bar soap but no scent and coal added to be calming to their skin), and even laundry detergent.
Regular commercial soaps and detergent bars aggressively cleanse the skin, stripping it of its valuable moisture and sometimes even leaving harmful chemicals behind.
Many skin lotions were invented primarily to repair the damage done by these harsh soaps!
Soapcakes do just the opposite. Soapcakes gently cleanse the skin without assaulting it, carefully preserving its natural moisture and eliminating the need for so much lotion.
Far above traditional industry standards, Soapcakes are meticulously handmade from the same fresh, certified organic oils that a world-class gourmet chef might use……because we think it truly matters what you put on your skin.
I grabbed that from their website. And to top it off, It's all made in Iowa😊.
After we stopped by the booth, we headed up by Grandfathers Barn to Parlo Pizza, Its a wood fired oven pizza and its super delicious.
Our friends are out of Ft Dodge so we don't get to see them very often so It's always great to get to visit with them at the fair. Also Katie (in the middle) does massage in Des Moines and she's amazing!! I've seen her once so far to help with my nerve issues and I'll continue seeing her to help with it.
We had to snap a picture in this😉.
My momma with Kathy (on the left) and Katie (on the right). My parents and Kenny and Kathy (Kenny passed away this winter😔) Have been friends since my brother was little, I've grown up with them more like family then friends😊.
Our concert crew. Deb (Joe's mom), Joe, me, My mom (Tonia), and my brother (Chris).
Concert ready!
Hairstylist can always spot other hairstylist in a crowd😉. The lady on the left came up to me and said she spotted me as soon as we came in and loved my hair, the lady on the right told her I had to be a stylist too😂. What's even more funny, Through talking to them about hair, etc. We found out the one on the right used to babysit my old boss from when I worked at an Aveda Salon in Des Moines. It's such a small world!
Jimmie Allen! I really didn't know much about him, I saw him sing on the Today show awhile back but after seeing him in concert I really like him and downloaded all his music.
Oh my goodness you guys you have No idea how excited I was for this concert!! I have always loved Toby Keith and it's always been a dream to get to see him in concert, the last time he was in Des Moines was 11 years ago and I missed it. So I was totally determined to see him this time.
"Red Solo Cup!"
It was so neat, they picked out the veterans (or at least the ones they could find?) backstage. This older veteran got to bring out Toby's guitar for Courtesy of the Red white and Blue and got to stand out there with him for the song.
Such a fun ending.
And then we got home to this...😩. Deegan's done this before but we weren't gone long, he tries to get into the trash...😒 and gets it behind the door, gets it pushed shut and gets himself stuck in the bathroom...We felt SO bad!! 1. we'll be closing the door when we're gone now 2. My mom and I actually picked up a new door for the bathroom last fall so at least we have a door to replace it with...
He got LOTS of cuddles after that.
Tuesday morning breakfast.
Ootd Tuesday - Of course, I had to rock my new Toby Keith shirt, my express shorts, and the clearance $3 gap flip flops.
I had to add this one in...Deegans face😂 and don't miss Dublin in the background too! They seriously follow me around everywhere.
My cute little sunbather...💖.
I went to physical therapy, then got labs done for my hematologist and then came home and had some leftover Tatertot casserole for lunch.
Look at these sweet babies.
The face getting some belly rubbins.
My momma was bringing me some water from Costco for supper so she brought me some Jimmy Johns for supper too😁.
Joe got my new shelf hung up! Now I've got to figure out how to style it. We're mounting a small tv right below it so I know the Apple TV and probably cable box will hopefully fit on it, I at least know the Apple TV would. I know I have some decor somewhere I just need to find it 🤷♀️.
Mom I only licked it once that's night bad right??" Don't worry, It went straight in the dishwasher😉.
Wednesday morning I had the hankering to bake.
Especially after I found these at Walmart on Tuesday.
Peanut Blossoms are a staple in our house around Christmas time, We always use the chocolate stars because they're pretty but I gotta say...these Ghirardelli chocolate thumbprints are soo much better, We'll definitely be switching to these!
I probably shouldn't have been up and baking...I only got a dozen baked by the time I was feeling terrible and parked myself on the couch with the dogs.
Joe reglued one of these silver things (for the second time, thanks Deegan) after Deegan knocked it off the stand and it broke and I'm liking the way they look together! Now we need to get the scratches out of this stand, thanks Deegan (AGAIN!).
Here's what I picked up from the Powells booth. I'm already way stocked up on regular soap so I got some of the new pet soap, I'm super excited to try it on the dogs this weekend. and one of the new beeswax candles, They're supposed to help purify the air.
I spent the rest of the day on the couch and Joe made a yummy supper! I think his eyes were bigger than my stomach😉. He got a new kind of roll and I'm telling you guys If I can remake the butter from Texas Roadhouse these would be a pretty good second!
Joe snapped this picture of Dublin being sweet and cuddly with momma. He always knows when I don't feel well.
My ootd Thursday - My new amazon shirt, Rock Revival jeans I got at Goodwill for $16 and my nike sandals.
Today was my non hair washing day (I only wash my hair every other day) So I wear a shower cap in the shower. Then I used the Living Proof dry shampoo (Moroccan Oil is still my favorite but I have this one so I'm trying to use it up).
I used the flat iron to throw a few curls in it, I waited until I was done doing my makeup and lightly ran my fingers through them and then did a little of the Pulp Riot hairspray.
Also yesterday I just put some of the pulp Riot leave in conditioner in and let it air dry.
Everything I used for makeup today.
I started out using the darker shadow on the left and used the brush in the upper picture on the left (Pink and red) to put it as a base but mainly in the crease.
Then I blended the lighter color on the right starting in the inner corner of the eye working my way towards the middle of my eye using the shadow brush on the right (the black one)
After I did the shadow I went in with this blue liner, its slightly shimmer but not too much, then I finished with mascara.
I used my new favorite lipstick (I love that its kind of a nude but has a little pink and shimmer too it also.
Then I realized taking these pictures that I REALLY needed some lotion on my hands. I keep this one on our sink to use on my hands a couple times a day, I love how thick it is. If you need a perfectly posh lady, let me know and I'll hook you up with my cousin!
Quote of the day...😊. I really love this one!
After I got ready I headed to my B12 injection. I gotta be honest...Joe gave me my Stelara injection with less pain than this lady did...It was painful!
Afterwards I was supposed to have my physical therapy appointment right after and they rescheduled it and didn't tell me😒.
I headed out to The Harvest Barn to pick up the two t-shirts I bought during their online t-shirt sale and of course found a couple other things they had clearance out.
Here's the two three shirts I got on the sale, I found the top two online but wanted to see the bottom one in person to make sure it would fit and they were good enough to honor the online sale price!
I ended up putting this one on when I got home!
I saw this one and loved the quote.
My momma does so much for me (and pretty much everyone) I saw this and thought it would be a nice surprise for her😊 (Don't worry, I've already given it to her so this didn't ruin the surprise).
They had this candle up in the clearance center too and it for real smells just like Christmas! I can't wait to burn it.
As I was putting clothes away I finally decided to finish off the Marie Kondo method of folding. I hadn't gotten around to my PJ's and it was much needed...
I've had my jean's folded this way for a few months and its a big help! It's easy to keep it too, you just fold it this way and it's not much different than the way I used too. My jeans are a little messy but I'll fix it when I'm finished putting a couple more away.
This drawer holds my workout/yoga/sweatpants/gym shorts. I have some extra room on the left I may add to by taking something off hangers, I haven't decided yet.
This drawer has all my shorts and one pair of capris. Not long ago I folded all my tank tops and camis to save room in the closet and so far they're working really well in the drawer! I couldn't get all the black tank tops to fit in the proper spot but for the most part I've had them organized by color.
For lunch I made some chicken strips, mashed potatoes, and rolls.
We're still working on the whole begging thing with Deegan. He usually does pretty well, clearly he was struggling here.
Puppy cuddles, blogging, and Law and Order.
Reeces Thins for dessert!
I've given up...😬. I tried on a kids size 13 shoe at Dillards. EXACT same shoe! the size 13 came in the mail today from the UGG website and it fits like half my foot...Im going to go to Dillards again and get a picture of the box. and get back on the UGG website and see if I can get it figured out.
Sweet puppy cuddles.
I grabbed my card box down when I was adding some thank you cards too it and thought I'd show you! Joe got this for me for Christmas from Walmart, It was on clearance so I don't know if they still have them but they're great! It came with quite a few cards for each category and I've picked up a few of the 50 cent cards also to have on hand as I send some. Also. All those red ones in the back, those are Christmas cards I have all ready to go! I've got them about 90% done, A few people I haven't addressed incase they move, I'll add pictures to them when it gets closer and then I'm sure I'll add a few more to the mailing list but I love having it done ahead of time.
I had some ladies at my physical therapy place asking me about my hair color so I thought I'd share this with you! I got this travel size one from the supply store and when I had the pink toned hair it was this brand as well. I love that they're just shampoos so you can use your normal shampoo and it just washes out.
Joe had gym Thursday night and he went down to the gym in Leon that sponsors him so it was just me and the doggies.
Watching some Law and Order with me.
How sweet is that face??
My ootd Friday. Sporting my new Jimmie Allen shirt from the concert Monday.
They just weren't ready to start the day, but are they ever??
I've been feeling like we have waay to much stuff lately. When I feel like I can't control anything else in my life (My health...) I like to clean and organize, at least I can control those even though I really can't do that very much either...lol I went through all of our cabinets in the kitchen and anything I haven't used but thought I needed (Couldn't part with...) Came out of the cupboards and it felt so great to declutter!
When I realized how exhausted I was...I figured I better take a break and have some lunch.
I'm telling you, if you don't have one already you need an air fryer!! I threw these chicken strips in it there and they taste so great out of it.
After lunch I took the dogs outside to relax, No idea what they're watching😂.
The rest of the afternoon I cuddled on the couch with the dogs.
When Joe got home we headed up to my parents to take some stuff up and have supper.
We folded the seats down in the back seat of the Saturn and they had so much fun having more room!
Deegan gets so upset when he doesn't get to go out to the garage with us😂.
I'm so excited...My parents have soo much good old wood for projects!! I grabbed a piece from their shop but there's plenty of stuff to keep me busy for awhile.
Joe snapped these pictures of me working on my candy corns! He got them all cut up for me and then I use my dads belt sander to send them down.
Now al they need is some paint😊
Hoping daddy might share some of those potatoes with them!
I picked this off my parents apple tree and we're trying to figure out what kind it is...A lot of people suggested Jonagold on facebook but when I was at the store this morning I was looking and I'm not sure, If you think you know let me know in the comments??
I'm super excited to maybe get to use it to can some applesauce and pie filling!
Went out to do their business Saturday morning and then right back to the couch!
My ootd - My new shirt I picked up from my new shirt lady and my favorite express shorts.
If you want to check out her shop click here she's local to Osceola and I've been super impressed with her work!
I can't even handle how cute this face is!
My husband is totally on the Pumpkin Spice train and he's not ashamed😂 This was one of the things I picked up last week from the inventory sale down in Leon.
I've switched to coconut milk whenever I get anything from Starbucks or when I make something at home, In an iced drink I actually think it taste better! In a hot drink at least when I make them at home it doesn't really froth well but it still taste great.
These are what I used for my caramel mochas.
After watching closely anytime I'm at a coffee shop I'm starting to get it down how to make one myself at home.
I put the syrup/sauce in first then make my coffee, warm my milk up and then froth it, then add it to the cup when the coffees done and then I use this handy little Pampered chef whisk to mix it all up.
I'm not a whipped cream person very much but you could certainly add that too!
My favorite coffee cup💜.
Obviously it doesn't keep it as warm as my Arct one but I love it, I got it at Starbucks a year or two ago around Valentines and its only like $2!
We had a long busy Saturday. Once we got up and around and did some stuff around the house Joe got to work getting the dishwasher pulled out and getting it ready to pull out and fixed.
My dad came to help replace the bathroom door thanks to Deegan eating half of it on Monday night...At least we already had a door I bought last summer to replace it!
One of Joe's coworkers gave us a hottub for FREE!😲
All it needs is a new hose thats like $20 and a new skirting put around it and a cover. Anyways a friend of ours and his wife came down from Indianola to help them go over to Creston and pick it up.
and we were waiting for my dad and brother to get back with the truck and trailer so the guys took advantage of that to watch some dirt bike videos..Dublin was happy to have some cuddles.
While the guys were gone Emily (Our friends wife that came) and I watched some TV and relaxed. Its the perfect kind of friendship, We chatted but it wasn't forced and we could both just chill!
Deegan loves her as you can tell😉.
When the guys got back Tyler and Emily headed home and dad got the bathroom door finished up and hi and Joe figured out what we needed to fix the dishwasher.
We had to run to Menards to get a new hose and doorknob for the bathroom door knob.
Joe headed for that stuff and I headed for the fall aisle! Soo much cute stuff.
I love this light up Boo sign and I think I'll go back and get it when Halloween gets closer.
I LOVE these glass pumpkins! They are soo pretty but I'm positive Deegan would knock it off wherever I put it so thats out...
Joe is all about Nightmare Before Christmas so I had to show him these.
And how cute are these??
I think I'm going to try and recreate this "Welcome my pretties" sign. It is soo cute! If I can't recreate it, $10 isn't a bad price at all to get it!
I had barely eaten anything all day and by 8:00 I was STARVING so we went over to Blaze pizza at Valley West.
We hadn't been there in soo long and I forgot how good it was!
Perfect ending to the day.
This one hits home and is such a great reminder for all of us! After last summer I've realized how much more fragile life can be, It's still hard sometimes but we all need to let the little things go (Granted I'm not the best at that sometimes) but lets let those go and just enjoy each moment of life, put your phone down, and enjoy what's going on around you!
Have an excellent week!
My questions for you this week...
Would you like to see videos of how I put product in and style?
Do you do any canning or freezing? If so what do you do?
