Weekly Recap March 17th - 23rd
Our Sunday started out pretty slow with some puppy cuddles in bed.
Once we got up and around we got to work on a million different food projects😂.
As soon as we got up I through the dough for English muffins in the bread machine and got to work on those and some breakfast sandwiches.
Joe wanted corned beef and cabbage for lunch so he got that going in the dutch oven on the stove, I don't do cabbage but I tried the corned beef and it was delicious!
The English muffins were so easy, they'll definitely be a staple.
I love how the breakfast pizzas turned out! We had to cook one up to make sure we'd like them before we put them all in the freezer.
I used a couple English muffins and then some leftover biscuits from Saturday to put together some homemade sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches.
Joes corned beef and cabbage.
Once we got all of that stuff cleaned up we took a break in the afternoon and watched Instant Family - Soo funny, I highly recommend!
After the movie we ran to the car wash to clean and vacuum the inside of the car - We forgot to bring enough quarters and ran out of cleaner😂 We got it some what cleaned up, Once it gets nice out I'll definitely be doing a deep cleaning on it.
Mom and dad stopped by to drop off some things when we got home so we visited with them for a little bit and then got to work on our homemade pizzas - Mom and dad actually went through a class out in Colorado a couple years ago for brick oven pizzas so I got some pointers from them when we got started!
We did this one on the stone with white sauce and ground chicken.
This one we did in the skillet in the oven with red sauce and pepperonis
They both turned out soo good!! We normally prefer the thin crust but I really liked the thick crust in the skillet too.
I started putting together some of the mini pizzas while the big ones were cooking.
(I'll have the recipes posted soon for the breakfast and regular pizzas!)
Having fun with the St Pattys snapchat filters😂.
We went for a drive when we were done with supper and had to snap a picture of all of these deer hanging out.
My ootd Monday - I was feeling casual and comfy.
Monday I had my last iron infusion! (Hopefully, I’ll find out in my how much it helped and whether I’ll need more).
I ran to the grocery store to get a few things, and then headed to the hospital. My infusion nurse that I had the whole time was so sweet, I’m bummed I won’t get to see her anymore (the first day of infusions we figured out her husband used to be my brothers boss so it was fun having a little connection there) it’s funny how you get close to people like your nurses, etc. as happy as I am to not have to go sit for 3 hours to get my remicade infusions (stelara is an injection that joe will learn how to give me at home) I got used to seeing all of my infusion nurses at the clinic.
Once I got done with the infusion I was starving so I headed home and heated up some leftover biscuits and gravy😋.
Waiting patiently for me to pay attention to him.
Some forced cuddles.
I was so tired but I had all kinds of things I wanted to finish up in the kitchen so that won out...I got the rest of the mini pizzas made up, flash froze and put in the freezer, made another batch of English muffins so I could make up more English muffin breakfast pizzas, this time I used some of the leftover biscuit gravy for some and then the others did with ham instead of sausage.
Then I made up some loaves of bread to have on hand, I stopped buying store bought bread about a month or so ago and haven’t regretted it! I do toast every day for breakfast so I love knowing exactly what ingredients are in it and it taste so yummy.
I had leftover chicken pot pie soup for supper - I love having stuff in the freezer for quick meals!
This little guy could play fetch all day long...but at least it wears him out.
By the time I got done with all of that Joe had gotten home from work so I visited with him for a little bit before he headed to Des Moines for a thing with his gym.
Then the dogs and I settled in for an early night and watching another hallmark movies and mysteries movie I had tivo’d.
My ootd Tuesday - I got this top on clearance at Target for $13 and it is soo comfy! I was feeling like dressing up for once, I got these booties last summer and I think this was only the second or third time I wore them but they're so fun!
Tuesday I had a hair appointment so I got up bright and early (and by bright and early I mean 7:00am because in my book that is plenty early...😬) got ready and headed to Des Moines so I could run a few errands before my appointment. I had to pick up a few products for Joes aunt and myself so I the supply stores and then headed to Target, I had like 15 minutes to get through target so I wouldn’t be late and that is so not enough time! I knew I needed mascara and saw they had my favorite universal threads tshirts on sale for $5 so I b lined it for the clothes (after checking out the $1 section first of course😉) found a couple of the tshirts and 2 other super cute shirts on excellent clearance, then headed to get mascara, I found a cute notebook clearanced along the way and found some face powder on sale too that I decided to try out (on sale for $5!). Joe was so sweet and left $10 on the steering wheel for me to get myself some Starbucks - It’s one of those things I could easily go get but the fact that he made a point to do that was very thoughtful! I limit myself on how much I’m allowed to have these days so it was a nice treat.
I got to my hair appointment like 5 minutes before 10:00 which to me is late, I like to be at least 15 minutes early🤷♀️.
Waiting to process.
And the finished product! Always something to keep in mind when going lighter is its a process...This was the first of 2-3 times it will take to get me to the level of blonde I'm going for, I'm working on a blog post with tips on what to tell your stylist when you're going in for an appointment to help ensure you get what you want.
I started laying out the tops I got to take a picture and Deegan thought it was the perfect place to lay down...😂.
My Target clearance finds - The black top on the left is the same as the maroon one I got a couple weeks ago, this and the maroon blessed top were clearance for $8, The universal threads t-shirts are my favorite and they were on sale for $5, I got this cute little gray notepad holder for $5 (I'm a sucker for notepads or notebooks of any kind!) I got the two gals jars in the $1 section for $3, I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to use them for but they were so cute! I know I'll find a use in the kitchen for them.
I went to target for mascara - this is my favorite along with the tarte better than sex mascara from Sephora.
This Maybeline fit me powder was on sale for $5 and im running dangerously low so I decided to try this one out.
My finds from the supply store.
I was out of dry shampoo so I needed to pick this one up - This moroccan oil is my absolute favorite! I haven't tried a ton but a good handful and hated them all...this is the only one I've found that works for me.
I've been using ColorProof products for at least a year now and love them! they're sulfate free as well as a lot of other bad things that shouldn't be going on your hair, its hard to find and a little pricey but soo worth it! One bottle last Joe and I a couple months (We aren't out of conditioner yet but we use the same)
I'm a sucker when Hempz comes out with the seasonal lotions...I haven't bought one in over a year though so I didn't feel one ounce of guilt for picking up this one😂 It seriously smells soo good!
Last but not least the silver shampoo and structure repair masque are new for me - They're a new brand that Cosmoprof just started carrying and are free of all the bad things and a great price, I'm so excited to try them out.
I was trying to take a picture of the bins I found at Dollar Tree for a freezer organizing project and Deegan thought he should be in it.
Joe and I started watching the new Magnum PI reboot when it came out and we love it! I used to watch the original when I was younger but Joe had never seen it so whether you watched the original or not I highly recommend it!
That side eye...😂 So jealous of cuddles without him.
Deegan was really hoping Joe was going to share some of that ice cream.
He finally decided to join in on the cuddles.
First thing Wednesday morning I was feeling ambitious and got started on my freezer organizing project.
These are the basket I picked up from Dollar Tree - Anytime you have an organizing project I highly recommend checking there first, As much as I love the container store there is no need to spend that much on something when these $1 ones work just as well.
The before and afters.
Disclaimer - We don't generally have so much junk food...😂 We went a little overboard when we got the air fryer in trying all the yummy things I haven't had in awhile!
Once we've been using these bins for awhile and have a better idea of what's going to go where I'm going to make up some labels for them.
I'm thinking about going back and getting more of the red bins with handles, they're so easy to pull out and get what you want, when I got them I wasn't sure if they would fit on the lower level but the fit great! they don't go all the way to the back so I was able to store a few more freezer meals behind them.
Organizing this helped soo much to see what all we had and made me realize we don't need to buy anything for quite awhile😂.
And now I need to figure out a good way to get the deep freezer organized...😬.
Theres some stuff I've been saving for Easter meal and dessert so that will clear out quite bit.
I love that I have a better idea of what we have on hand and will help me plan out our meals.
Once I got done with that I got a couple things cleaned up around the house and ready for the day.
No ootd today...its a comfy outfit and no makeup kind of day and trying my darnedest to rest😉.
For lunch I finished off the leftovers of biscuits and gravy from Saturday.
I felt like I was being watched....
I spent the rest of the afternoon parked on the couch watching some tivo'd hallmark movies and mysteries movies, cuddling the puppies, and working on blog post.
When Joe got home Wednesday night I got to work on his hair, I pre lightened the mohawk, did a color melt of blue into purple and gave him a haircut. I love how this one turned out!
Not Impressed with being ignored while I did Joe's hair...😂.
My ootd Thursday. All oldies but super comfy's.
My delicious breakfast Thursday...I'm telling you I could eat these things every single day!
Some morning cuddle time...😊.
We had new tires put on the car Thursday morning so Joe ran the car home to me over his lunch so I could go tan and run a few errands.
We were going down to Leon Thursday evening for Joe to go to the gym and me to do mom and dads hair.
Mom had to run up in the afternoon for some things so she picked the dogs and I up so we could have more time down there.
So adorable...My dad was in the school bus behind us and caught Deegan's attention, He knew it was grandpa and got so excited!
All ready to go on the grill...😋
And the baked potatoes all baking.
Soo good!
Just practicing breaking into cars...😂 All for a good reason though, My dad bought a lock and key business.
My ootd Friday. This is one of the tops I bought on clearance for $8 at Target on Tuesday. It's the same one in black instead of purplish that I bought from Target a few weeks ago too, It's so comfy I'm totally good with having the same in two different colors😉.
On a whim Friday morning when I went to get my morning supplements I decided it was finally time to organize everything, It's been driving me nuts not being able to find which ones I need or having them fall over, etc.
I took the leftover baskets I didn't use from the freezer project and in less than 5 minutes got everything organized and confined to the baskets by need.
It's the little things in life...😂
Joe was off Friday for us to run errands and make sure he was rested for his fight Saturday.
In the morning we ran to the dentist to have my stitch taken out from going last week.
Then we ran down to Lamoni to pick up his order from Invici Graphics, They've been doing his shirt, shorts, and banners for the last couple fights.
I was starving by the time we got home from Lamoni so I decided to throw a couple of these in the Toaster Oven for lunch.
Also I am still so in love with these plates I got!
The puppies and I had a little cuddle time while Joe ran a few errands in the afternoon.
That face kills me...😂 He really was enjoying his belly rub though.
I love how cuddly he's been lately (Ok I mostly love it, he's been a little demanding but he's so sweet!)
We headed up late in the afternoon for Joe's weigh ins and to run a few errands beforehand.
All done and ready to go get some food! He'd been cutting weight and hadn't eaten much.
Famous Daves it is...
So happy to get some food😊.
I know its not authentic necessarily, there's a lot of good local bbq places but In our opinion we could eat here all the time!
My favorite is the brisket sandwich, I can't really eat much of there sides so I ask for the delicious cornbread muffins instead.
Saturday was fight day😬.
My ootd day - The fights were at Bucs arena...a warm jacket was an absolute must!
I got these jeans Friday at Platos closet for $15 new with the tags on them! clearly they're a little long...I'm going to hem them up!
We didn't do much Saturday other than run a few tickets around and to tan.
We headed up to Des Moines in the afternoon to do a few things beforehand and then to the arena.
A few photos from the night...
All of the people that bought table and front row seats from Joe, there were many more that bought general admission that weren't in the picture.
My favorite picture of the night...She told uncle Joe he's going to win the belt😉.
People ask me how I can let him fight...Don't get me wrong my anxiety is through the roof leading up to them. but that face says it all, the pure joy it brings him is all worth it.
As he says..."Winners get milkshakes"😂😂.
We didn't get home until 3:30am Sunday...
Joe didn't even fight till almost midnight😮.
Anyone that knows us well knows we go to bed at like 8:00pm...We were struggling!
I'll leave you with this quote for the week, I think this is such a good reminder for us all!
